What are your least favorite routes?

right now it's karasuba from psychedelica of the black butterfly, the only route i haven't finished yet... i'm just not a fan :sowwy:

Radie because of multiple reasons (I guess I could have made peace with their relationship becoming a romantic one even tho Radie is kinda portrayed as a father figure for Tifalia, but the execution of it fell flat for me. And don't get me started on the dreaded amnesia trope.) Also Kuroba from Olysoi, but the thing is, i totally forgot why I was mad at that route by now.
 
Gill from CupPar and Awauki from Itehari, I can't stand obnoxious men unless they're yandere haha
 
Everyone doesn't like Hokuto, but I like him, and he has a silly but interesting reason for friendzon the heroine.
 
Yang from Piofiore. If I can teleport myself before the plot began, i'll probably kill him first and then kill sebastiano (the real one).

Definitely Ikki from Amnesia Memories. First time I played this game was 2015/2016 on my phone. I finished all the routes but his and that guy with long green hair (he's creepy a just can't •́⁠ ⁠ ⁠‿⁠ ⁠,⁠•̀) I replayed Amnesia Memories last year and I swear a tried to like and finish Ikki's route but it seems impossible to me. Everything annoys me there!

Shinobu's bad ending in Yoshiwara Higanbana, Nayuta's bad ending in Blackish House, and Yoshiki's bad ending epilogue in the fandisc of Chou no Doku Hana no Kusari.
Those were the worst for me. Like, genuinely devastating.
For a while after finishing them, I couldn't even stand seeing those characters in other routes. Every time they showed up, I'd just remember that ending and feel awful all over again. It completely ruined my mood.
They really left a scar. 😭
 
Gekka from Nightshade. It wasn't really bad, but just bland in comparison to others. I also made a mistake of putting it till the last and expecting more from it, especially after Choujirou's route.
 
The character of yori in Utakata no Uchronil.He really looks like an evil beagle.I like his bad personality very much,he is really cute!
 
Among the games I played recently, there was a game I remember that all the routes were not good. It was a game called Cafe Enchante, and I liked the illustration of the character and the space called the cafe, so I felt unpleasant that even the happy ending was like a bad ending as I started and went on. Still, I thought the end would be okay, but I felt that the discomfort reached the highest level. It's one of the games I really don't want to recommend if there's anyone who hasn't played it.

I was torn between this game and Winter's Wish and Temirana to be my next game after I finish Hakuoki... When you mentioned the endings being bad, is it because it has little romance or is it too morbid, or perhaps was another thing? What specifically caused you to feel discomfort? You can go ahead and give spoilers if necessary, I don't mind that much in this case if it's necessary!
 
As I've said previously Kyou from Kintouka, he'd behave like such an entitled incel whenever he wouldn't get his way and the entire route felt like a rape apology fever dream with the way the sex scenes were played out and the protagonist's monologue about them afterwards, I couldn't take the MC's self gaslighting about this being an actually healthy relationship any longer after their second H scene.
Also feeling like VN was sort of justifying Kyou's rapey tendencies cause that's how he was conceived/his father was a rapist too felt like a complete joke and even offensive to me.

Oh, I don't think romance is lacking. Of course, the bad endings were very faithful to the bad. I just didn't like the way they put out a happy ending. I couldn't stand the displeasure of wanting perfect happiness because the ending was like, "Love with non-humans can't be perfectly happy." If you don't mind if the happy ending isn't completely happy, I think you can play it.
 
I think I should mention one I recently finished, Ascot from Mistonia. But I naturally lose some points with characters like him; I personally wasn't a big fan of the game's 'true route,' but I enjoyed the game quite a bit. Now I intend to start Piofiore, but I've seen so many people have mixed opinions about the characters that I've become more curious to play it. I'll avoid spoilers for now.

it was kazuma from lover pretend... haha, it's like they put all the tropes i hate into one route... which is so unfortunate because kazuma himself is such a funny character and likeable character?
 
yashiro from illusion of itehari and honestly all the routes in birushana my god those routes were terrible to me
 
The Secret RO from 7'Scarlet -- just super jarring and the romance in that route felt so forced and exaggerated. I don't mind the forbidden aspect at all but there is no build up for the kind of devotion the LI has so it just feels very uncomfortable (o_-)
 
I get bored when the romance is too sweet and wholesome. Give me at least a little drama and tension as they get to know each other and come around to their feelings.

Childhood friends are the biggest offenders -- he's always loved her, something happens to make her see him differently and she realizes she's always loved him too, blah blah yawn. Shungen from Birushana made me put the game down for literally months. And I would have absolutely been lost on Amnesia too if I'd picked Shin first; luckily I hit that route before then. 🤭

But it doesn't necessarily have to be childhood friends; I get this feeling whenever the LI is just relentlessly kind and sweet, to the point where he doesn't even seem to have a personality of his own. So another one that made me put otomes down for months was Yves from Virche Evermore.
 
Ichiya from varibari... man was too corny and honestly got on my nerves. The only pass he gets is his voice by Kosuke Toriumi.
and Kunitaka from winter's wish 😐. boy I was speed running his route. It wasn't romantic and Suzune getting sisterzoned for like 80% of the story. A nitpick I had was how Suzune kept tripping into his arms 🙄 once is fine but it kept happening like it was the only romantic thing.
