What are your favourite otome minigames?

I'm the type of person who LOVES when otome games (or any games) have minigames. I love getting distracted from the main plot!!

I was recently playing Amnesia Later x Crowd and honestly couldn't stop playing poker trying to get a Five of a Kind for 99 Orion points lmao (it reminded me of how I couldn't stop playing Tycoon in persona 5 Royal or Gwent in the Witcher 3 either).

I've also been playing Tokimeki Memorial Girl's Side 1st Love, which has plenty of minigames of its own (some of which are pretty brutal). Mastering the infamous Valentine's Day chocolate minigame was actually pretty fun, even if they make me play it 3 times every playthrough.

What are your fave otome minigames?? I would love to discover new otome games with minigames to play!

OMG no matter how many times I have played TMGS I'm still terrible at the chocolate game. I bow down to your skill.

There is an indie game called Kuchen Loschen that has match 3 sections that was really fun! I thought the minigame sections really improved the pacing over most games.

And then there is KLAP whose minigame was fun and.. memorable. hahaha. I thought it was a fancier more fun version of the TMGS poke-his-face-after-a-date game.

I also really love the chocolate-making minigame in Tokimeki Memorial Girl's Side! I love being able to design the chocolate however I want while still making it to suit my chosen LI.

It might be a bit of a stretch to call it a minigame, but I also had so much fun running around the map in Hanayaka Nari, Waga Ichizoku doing errands and little quests!

Hanayaka Nari looks cool, I love taisho era stuff! And I'll definitely check it out since it has quests/errands!
Also the protagonist looks so cute in her maid outfit :3
Thank you for the rec!!

Currently playing Kenka Bancho Otome and I must say I really liked the fighting games (basically it's more of a rhythm game but not with music; if you tap correct buttons, it will accumulate a certain gauge and it will implicitly throw punch). Albeit my issue is that, it is WAYYYYY too easy (like I know I'm pretty washed in rhythm games by now, but still-! they could've made it much challenging to test me LIKE UGH. UNLESS! it really just implies how overpowered the MC is, because I have already watched the anime during lockdown era and she devoured everyone lol.)

PS: It's on ps vita originally (unlocalized/without english translation) and it came on switch recently. I was able to play it with this fan translated patch:

The card game in HanaAwase was so addictive when I was trying to climb the rankings back then!
And all the different sub characters I encountered in the matches,
both the ones with faces and the faceless ones, were so distinctive and had such strong personalities.
When I was on a roll and managed to Koi-Koi several times in a row, it felt so satisfying!
And when I got to face the Gokou in the top five,
the intense back-and-forth battles were so exciting, and finally winning was incredibly thrilling!
When teaming up with the Gokou, whenever their special moves successfully activated,
the beautiful visuals and character songs would kick in too, getting my adrenaline pumping lol
I really miss those days when I was so hooked on it....

I love playing the songs during the performances in the Kiniro no Corda mini-games. It's really fun when you set the difficulty to the higher levels. (I love rhythm games.) I could also mention Hana Awase; their card game is really fun. I actually play a lot of card games irl —everything from Pokémon to Yu-Gi-Oh.

I really struggled with Girlish Love Revolution for a while, there was just so much stat-management involved. The first time I played, I had to replay it four times just to unlock the very first event. Basically, you have to juggle your schedule between studying, losing weight (to land a guy), and going out on dates.

Shopping was a total blast. I remember the item database was massive, and you could even unlock a hidden CG for the shopkeeper. It's super brutal when you're just starting out, but once you clear your first route, you get the hang of the mechanics and it becomes much easier.

Fully completing the entire game gives you such a genuine sense of accomplishment

The way this game's world unfolds is really full of surprises,
and all the suspenseful scenes really keep you on the edge of your seat.

That said, out of the four games in the series,
I personally wouldn't recommend the last one.
I feel like they really messed up the writing...

I'd been really looking forward to seeing the last character's story take center stage,
because the way his role developed throughout the first three games,
with all the buildup, twists, and turns, was absolutely amazing,
and each game was more heartbreaking than the last.

So when I thought we were finally reaching the grand finale,
I ended up feeling really empty and confused by all the plot choices.

I absolutely loved the card game in HanaAwase too!
I got so obsessed with it that I maxed out every single stat to level 99 in the Himeutsugi volume:ROFLMAO:

Yes, I thought the mechanics were really interesting when I first read through the card battle explanation too! Whenever I manage to put together a deck with high attack power, I can't help but cheer in my head lol. The subs on the leaderboard also have all sorts of quirky and amusing names.
And the events you get after battling Goko also have completely different vibes depending on whether you win or lose.

Yeah! After maxing out the attack stat,
my completionist side kicked in, so I had to max out the other stats too lol.
From the first game to the third, the battle system and card mechanics were gradually refined,
while new skills were added, making the overall flow smoother and smoother.
I really loved seeing what kind of new surprises the system would have each time.
When I got Mikoto to the 1 spot on the leaderboard and saw her reigning supreme,
the satisfaction was absolutely overflowing.
