I just finished up 9rip, and thought in honor of that, I'd ask everyones opinions on the series as a whole!
Admittedly, I haven't played the sequel yet, but I'd like to hear people's thoughts on it as well (spoilers are ok) ^^

Personally my favs were hibiki, seiya, and minami, but writing-wise, i think yukimaro, minami, and koyo had it the best!

I know the community generally agrees on the pacing issues being one of the biggest qualms with the game, but what other takes do people have to share? Any underwhelming LIs? Or ones that turned out better than expected maybe?

I haven't finished all the routes yet, but I still wanted to give my opinion :) Even though I liked the vibe and the guys, I was disappointed because initially the plot was about the protagonist having trouble deciding on a career, and apart from Koharu's route, none of the routes I played had a resolution to this problem. So I was left with a feeling that the journey she took, although it helped the boys, didn't help her, and thus gave a feeling of inconclusive endings. Aside from that, I thought the boys were really cool and fun. My favorites are Koharu and Koyo, and in terms of plot, I really liked Hibiki's route

Nice, the thread has perfect timing, since I am just in the middle of playing it.

To be completely transparent, from premise and vibe, I knew it was not my cup of tea, but my friends loved it and nudged me a bit to try it. I like to go outside my comfort zone, so I did.

The game itself is gorgeous from an artistic side: simply beautiful art and amazing music. The story itself is not bad at all; however, I realised the game did not hook me yet, and I am heavily procrastinating on it (which is not usual for me). I have finished school and contemporary (forgo how they called that: Sena + Koyo), and on Seya's route, I got myself a two-week hiatus, which brings us today.

So TL;DR The game is nice, but it did not grip me yet ><

I rly loved the sequel!

I thought the first game was just ok. The routes were kind of hit or miss. The sequel is similar in terms of writing quality, but I felt like they went hard with the fan service, while also bringing some resolution to some LIs.

In particular, Toka and Minami had such yummy routes (since they are my favs), and Kohaku's route was amazing in terms of plot! I sobbed so hard, which isn't common for me to do. Kohaku's route was very weak imo in the first game, so I was blown away by the difference in quality in the sequel.

Although I was neutral on the game after the first game, the sequel rly made me grow the love this franchise more.

totally get this!! i fell in love with the art, sound, & UI design but i get the story just not hooking you..
IMO seiya + minami are the most interesting characters to come out of the game, but seiyas story is on the slow side..

buuuut if you hit a standstill on seiya id 100% reccomend trying minami! his route is a RIDE, + amped me up enough for the final push of the last few routes 😆

fan service 🤤🤤🤤
agreed with koharu's route being on the weaker side, but i'll look forward to seeing him in the sequel if it's as you say !!!

Oh thanks for encouragment. I think it is a me thing. I am so suprised about Seya. He seemed like a total kuudere in other routes 👀

i had a relatively negative experience of 9RIP compared to other people that i've seen play the game.. I love the LIs a lot, I think they're all very likeable but yeah the pacing was what really brought me to not favour it so much.

The routes with the worst pacing were probably sena's and tbh koyo's (despite how much i love that guy)
I also believe the lack of variation (in my very personal opinion) in the routes was a bit boring.. everything gave off a very 'naive-love' vibe if that makes sense which just isn't to my tastes :((..

But to end on a positive note! seiya is one of my all-time otome faves for sure, and i also love minami + yukimaro!!
