Thanks, v2 looks good, now you can add the tags to the post, that's great, thanks! (y)

They will return the option to mark the language in which the publications are (Japanese, Chinese, English, others)?

Looks absolutely awful. Why does the new forum only use like 50% of the screen real estate? Why is "Latest Discussion" etc taking up so much space at the top and when you switch tabs that nonsense is even animated? The font seems bigger. In general, there is a lot of wasted space. The white is blindingly white instead of more nuanced like it was previously.

The comparison is like night and day. A tight, efficient and visible layout vs whatever the heck this is (modern garbage design, I guess).

Not everyone is fortunate enough to have an ultra-wide screen. Thankfully, there's a toggle in the bottom if you want that weird fluid mode. Isn't it strange how nobody complains about how big tech giants like Twitter and Facebook have been doing this for ages? The world is surely strange.

You have the ability to customize the font size according to your preferences by accessing the control panel.

Improvements and updates will be gradually implemented to enhance other aspects, just like in every aspect of life.

It's important to shed some light on why these changes were both vital and necessary.

  • The old forum was nearing its life's end: The software dependencies it relied on had either been abandoned or were significantly out of date. This led to substantial security vulnerabilities that were becoming increasingly untenable to patch up.
  • The forum was besieged by spam: Security loopholes allowed spammers to exploit non-critical breaches, leading to an onslaught of unwanted content. Fighting this tide was growing progressively more challenging.
  • The forum lacked scalability: The old, unoptimized platform made it challenging to scale up services. Buying more CPUs to accommodate for the forum's needs was expensive. Further, with backend software like PHP 5.6 long past its end-of-life (EOL) and not compatible with operating systems released in 2022, maintaining an old backend and frontend was becoming impossible. Even older OS platforms like CentOS 7, which do support PHP 5.6, are nearing EOL.
The reality left us with two options: either shut down ASF or build a new, revitalized version, what we now call ASF v2. The first option was the path of least resistance, while the second was more challenging, especially considering ASF's tight budget.

Despite these challenges, after six years of dedicated effort, ASF v2 has been realized.

I've been fairly active on the v1 forum, and have been enjoying v2. The display is adjustable to suit, and it is fun to explore the options.

For example, you can toggle between light and dark modes (bottom of page,) You can also remove the sidebar, making the forums display wider, by by clicking the three vertical dots (top right if the main page.)

Thank you very much, Checkmate, for the immense effort you have made to make ASF even better!

Thread prefix for all DLL sections where you can post non-raw japanese works, like subbed OVAs, translated Games, translated Books, etc.

I don't know how to add tags in threads, in previous version you could see the option at the bottom of every thread you create.

No signature option in case of a thread discussion with several posts from me, if my signature contains images and text I would prefer no to bother anyone overloading the page, just showing what I have to say.
Thread prefix is restored

I'm not very sure if the no signature option is helpful at all. For now I opt that out.

"Ultra-wide screen"? I have a simple 24'' screen, so just a normal wide screen which has been standard for...like 15 years now? Thank you for adding that button (I don't think it was there two days ago but maybe I didn't endlessly scroll all the way down and at least waybackmachine from two days ago agrees with me). As for bad practices from tech giants...a lot of people who know their stuff complain, just the dumb masses who don't know any better don't. Non-auto-adjustable width, endless scrolling, massive bloat etc etc, lots of issues which you do see addressed here and there. And it's also not strange. The world would be rather different if people weren't as they are.

Ah, maybe I have missed that one. My eyes were actually drawn to the time zone which doesn't automatically detect your own. The "small" font is much better, at least for people who don't have bad eyesight.

That already helps a lot. So that only leaves the top part and the massive space between sub forums and the increased space between the different forum sections when it comes to wasted space. Other than that, the contrast is still meh, as mentioned before. A nice line between the sub forums like how it was on the previous forum would also help with visual clarity and overall design.

I don't think I grasp what you mean. A screenshot with some doodling would be great.

I marked where the space between things has increased (basically everywhere).

Naturally, it really adds up with all the different forum sections and sub forums. For comparison, look at the link I posted earlier.
There you can also see the dividing line between sub forums which increases visual clarity etc.

I consider those margins and paddings critical.
However, the forum layout will change in the future, as such, the listed mode will be gone and be replaced with a grid presentation instead.

I am sorry that I do not know if it is reflected here that the problem of frequent web page errors occurs.
