the time spent on reading a word game

It depends for me when I lock in I can read for days and can complete a 30 hr vn in two weeks, but sometimes I get so busy I only read for a bit then continue later and it can get up to a month. And the worst one is getting so busy then forgot to play for months. Definitely just take your time when it comes to vn!

That's exactly how I feel now I have to skip through any video that's longer than 5 minutes, otherwise, I'd close it before finishing it.
funny, because im a total opposite of that. short videos bore me to death, and i much prefer videos that are at least an hour long. not 8 hours though, like a certain youtuber LOVES doing..(ᵕ—ᴗ—)
but the global tiktokification of stuff everywhere is indeed a massive problem. at least a little, drop by drop, but people should indeed spend some time relearning how to read..!

I'm a completionist player who explores every route and finishes them all. This allows me to experience the charm of each character. Each game usually takes me 40+ hours to complete, and I can finish one within a week. :alice_hmm:

It depends on how many characters I'm interested in pursuing are in the game. When there are many such characters, I focus more on completing the game and am less easily distracted. But if the story of the game doesn't appeal to me, I'll take a long time to finish it.

If I'm just playing a game casually, I still need about half a month to complete it—I'm talking about perfect completion. Because some routes are really boring, I often get distracted and do other things. It mainly depends on whether the story has that "can't-put-it-down" quality for me. I'm currently playing 9 R.I.P. right now, so after I finish that, I'll try the games you recommended to me first~~

I like to play visual novel slowly, I took half a month to finish "Shiningakkou", because the story is amazing. But if the game isn't that good, I'll play it quickly, and a good game is worth playing for a long time

If the story is interesting enough, I can usually achieve all endings in just two to three days. I usually don't listen to all the voice lines before clicking the next line, and I usually skip around to characters whose routes I'm not interested in, so I can usually finish the game quickly.

Because I have a collector's mindset (including all kinds of choices and CGs), when I play games I also insist on listening to every line of voiced dialogue all the way through. Even after I've finished reading the text, the character often hasn't finished speaking yet, and sometimes if I miss a line, I'll go back to the chapter just to hear it again. On top of that, I don't usually have much free time, and I sometimes play other games at the same time, so finishing a single game can take me an entire month.

Depends on a few things for me, like if the game is in English or if I have to slog through a MTL. if it's in English and I'm super invested in the plot I feel like I can zip right through them. But when I was trying to get through Ooe with a MTL I felt like it went very, very slowly. Or if a plot is very suspenseful sometimes I just have to stand up and walk around to stop feeling so anxious, so it goes kinda slowly T_T

It really does depend. Sometimes I'm so hooked that I can't put it down, sleep and employment be damned, hah. I don't like having a backlog though >< I'm pretty quick at reading but VN's are a slower read for me in comparison to books, comics, manga & manwha, etc.

My shortest time would be about two days on one route lol so yea always a wonder how people can read that fast AND actually remember the story. Me want that skill :(

It usually takes me a week to 100% a VN. Sometimes even longer because I'll be on the last route and not want the game to end so soon... ;w;

Short indie games take me a few days but Japanese games like Otomate, Rejet's need many weeks or longer for me to finish. I might get too tired of reading the same thing and give up on completing 100% of the routes too.

The first time I play, I rush through it to get a grasp of the overall story, so it only takes about two days.To complete the whole game perfectly, it could take as long as six months.

Generally I'm really busy so I only get a day or so every week or two to play. :( When I do, I tend to play for hours lol. Amount of time varies though, I usually like to fully listen to the Seiyuu lines though, maybe even repeat them when it's a character/voice I really like haha.

I'm not a native Japanese speaker, but I prefer playing otome games in Japanese. often need to look up words with a translator while playing, so it takes me forever to get through a game.:o_O:

I don't listen to all the voiced lines either. I usually listen to everything only for my favorite characters, and for the rest, once I've read enough of the text, I just skip ahead. If I'm having trouble focusing or a part feels kind of trivial, I'll speed through it and just follow the general flow.

I also really dislike stopping in the middle of a game. If I don't do it this way, I end up sitting there for hours and forcing myself to finish in one go, so this is kind of inevitable for me. That said, when I clear a game quickly like this, I almost always end up wanting to go back and savor my favorite route more carefully, which sometimes means I spend twice as much time overall, lol.

If the goal is purely speed, I think it helps to set the text display speed to the maximum and get used to instantly reading the full text as soon as you skip. I've been practicing that myself, and I've definitely gotten faster over time.

The shortest it took for me to finish a game was about 2-3 days, unless it was a stat-raiser. But that was when I was a student and had more free time. Now that I'm older, I'd say it takes me anywhere between 1 week to 1 month, depending on how invested I am in the game. But more often than not, I end up doing a few routes before forgetting about the game for a while until I see a post that reminds me to play it again...

I read quickly, but since I have to reread things multiple times to understand the content, it takes quite a while to finish.

It takes me a long time to read.
I find it strange that people who run walkthrough sites update their sites on the day the game is released.

When I was younger, I used to read 500-page books in a single day. but I can't do it anymore... I'm too slow for everything these days like a sloth or slug, reading this thread cheer me up a little bit.
