Hello, it's been a while since I've posted here huh?
Just over a year to be more specific, which is kind of weird to think about given I was here on my corner of the internet consistently for almost a decade.
I suppose to address my absence – I just needed a break. I have chronic health problems at the best of times and they were kicking my ass more than usual for a while, which leaves me with little energy to write.
But I can and do normally push through this, so the real problem was just that I felt increasingly overwhelmed keeping up with new releases (a problem ENTIRELY of my own creating) and also feeling disappointed by many of them. There's really only so many "mid" and below games that one can read in a few months without losing motivation. I was also working on a side project at the time of reading some of the highest rated visual novels and uh came to the realisation that my tastes are, how shall we say, perhaps not aligned with the average reader which made my feelings of disillusionment worse.
Stepping away for a bit was what I needed and I come back mentally refreshed, ready to deliver some classically terrible takes. I have still been playing vns in my time away, though I don't know if I will review all of them.
The Blog Going Forward
I essentially plan to start reviews back up soon, though I'm dropping the "post on a Friday" thing in favour of just posting reviews when they're ready to reduce stress on me.
I'm currently working on a review for Nemophilia which released this summer that should be out this week (I just need to proofread it). I'm going to be trying out a slightly more spoilery review style so let me know if you like it?
I do also have a review for Manosaba that was written before my hiatus that I just never got around to posting. I'm not sure if it's worth posting though since it's been so long since I played the game (all I know is that Shelly/Sherry is best girl).
As alluded to earlier, there will probably be fewer reviews for brand new games (maybe one game every month or two, rather than multiple per month as it was) as I will be more selective about what I pre-order and actually play trials first. Hopefully this also gives me time to actually work on my backlog, which is a beast of its own at this point.
