Sunshine / Moonlight tutorial (Android and Ps Vita) PC stream.

Hi! As you may know, some of us aren't proficient enough to play visual novels directly in Japanese, and translators like Luna Translator absolutely need to use Windows.

However, I want the experience of playing on a handheld console while keeping the Luna translation.

And above all, since I work as an artist, my back needs a break.

So I discovered this tool that lets you use your phone in real time, either from your phone or, in my case, from my modded PlayStation Vita. So you won't need a steamdeck with windows or anything like that.

Step 1: Set Up Sunshine on Your PC (The Host)

To let your PC stream the game screen, complete with the live translations, you need the host software:

Go to the official Sunshine GitHub repository and download the Windows installer.

Run it and follow the on-screen steps. Once installed, open your web browser and go to https://localhost:47990.
Set up a username and password the first time you log in.

Make sure Luna Translator is running smoothly on your PC along with your Japanese game; Sunshine will capture the entire screen, including your floating translation boxes.

Step 2: Install Moonlight on Your Device (The Client)
Depending on where you want to rest your back, choose your preferred device:
On Android: Go to the Google Play Store, search for Moonlight Game Streaming, and install it.
On PS Vita: Make sure your console is modded, download the moonlight.vpk file from GitHub, and install it using VitaShell.

Step 3: Pair and Connect Both Worlds

Ensure both your PC and your Android device or PS Vita are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
Open Moonlight on your Android or PS Vita. Your PC should pop up automatically; if not, tap the + button and type in your PC's local IP address.
Tap on your PC icon, and a 4-digit PIN code will appear on your client screen.
Quickly go to the Sunshine web interface on your PC (https://localhost:47990), go to the PIN tab, enter the code, and accept it.

Vital Note for Players:

When using tools, emulators, or environments like Eden through Moonlight, a very common issue is that buttons won't register correctly or will act like a keyboard. It is extremely important to go into the settings inside Eden and switch your input mode from "Keyboard" to "Gamepad" (Controller). If you leave it on keyboard, the system will ignore the physical joysticks and buttons on your Android or PS Vita, making proper navigation impossible.

Note: Playing Steam Games Naturally (Tested & Working!)
Beyond streaming visual novels with external translation tools, you can also use this exact same Sunshine and Moonlight setup to play regular Steam games natively and effortlessly on your handheld device.
I gave it a try myself and successfully tested it with Navigator of the Ruin World (running straight from Steam). The performance is remarkably smooth, the controller layout maps naturally without extra configuration headaches, and it's an absolute game-changer for kicking back away from the desk while keeping your favorite titles running at full quality.
