Answered Spam protection for the wiki

Dear admins,

hmoeller reported about more spam than useful activity in the wiki.

Is there any help you could give us?

It did use google recpatcha but it seems the humanbot broke that.

I've rolled back to Question-Answer. Want some other questions answer? Suggest here.

Now I cant access the wiki at all!? IE shows HTTP 500 error.

So, we could change the question for account creation and its answer, below
"To protect the wiki against automated account creation, we kindly ask you to answer the question that appears below"...

Is that one of many questions, and the system chooses one from a pool?

• Type the second letter of each word - yheefao
• Which day follows Saturday? - Sunday
• This question tries to prevent an automatic creation of what? - account

Those question are easy to break since spammer are actually cheap human workforce and they can actually read and follow simple instruction, that's why they can even beat picture puzzle and crossword.

When we deal with questions-answers, the answer must be hidden elsewhere.

"Hidden somewhere" like the "Internal discussions" of the modding club?

So someone who would want to create a wiki account could be delayed until they would create an account for AS and ask for membership of the modding club. When confirmed by the modding club leaders they could access the "Internal discussions" where I would put a thread with the wiki account creation password?

Would that be inconvenient enough for spammers?

I will ask hmoeller if he wants to be able to check for new members of the club. If he wants to then I would like him to be leader of the club as well. But I will post here again.

the wiki refuses my password, although I haven't changed it lately. I tried to reset my password but I got no email for the reset.

I understand the frustration of having to wait for me to reply to this thread regarding the Wiki issues.

I'd be happy to help you with any issues the Wiki are having. However, solving problems in this manner, via forum is no longer efficient.
