Slow burn vs Insta love or just medium pace

I lean more into the medium pace than slow or insta pace as I find it important for the story to build more and let us learn about the character!

I don't have a preference; fast pace suggests that the development or drama will occur in the relationship or during the confession, medium pace allows time to develop the point without being too slow or fast, and slow pace gives reasons to become attached, the development of the romance and the reason for the relationship, but if I had to choose, I would go for medium pace.🤔

medium for sure, slow burn is only nice and it feels natural and isn't stalled for the sake of being stalled

It depends on the length of the game.
If a game is long, then I want the romance to be stretched across and sprinkled in throughout the whole route.
But if the game is short, then the romance should progress at a faster rate.

I love a mix of slow burn and insta love! Like a "he fell first, she fell harder" kind of situation ❤️

Medium and slow-butn, depends on how the story develops with the li. Anything but insta love 😅

Medium pace is probably my sweet spot honestly, but a good slow burn works too as long as there's actual romantic tension along the way... those routes where nothing happens until like 80% in are just as frustrating to me as insta love. And insta love is rough because the whole route ends up feeling one-sided (be it for the LI or the MC) for so long

Medium pace!! I feel like a lot of otome nowadays have that Disney Princess thing where they fall in love in such a short amount of time and it doesn't make sense, or that there's barely ANY romance going on. This is how I felt with bustafellows.

I like slow, but since it's tricky to find a balance that doesn't just feel like they're spinning their wheels, I prefer medium.

Medium or slow burn. I need to see how the MC and the LI fall in love. Seeing the push and pull, internal struggles, and the realization that they are in love would be nice. The process matters more than the result for me. Instalove doesn't give enough room for the love to develop, so the love weighs less to me.

I prefer a medium pace! When a story moves too quickly, it frustrates me because I don't have enough time to actually feel the emotions; it often feels unnatural, and I want to watch the feelings develop. However, an overly long slow burn can get boring too:akazukin_sweat:

Definitely team medium pacebut with a huge soft spot for a well-e ecuted slow burn!
Insta-love usually makes me hit the brakes because if the LI is already head-over-heels by chapter 1, I'm just sitting there like... but why do u love me tho, where is the pining? where is the mutual suffering? it takes away all the stakes ~
That being said, slow burn is an art form. If it's done right, the payoff is amazing, but if it's just 15 hours of silly miscommunications keeping them apart, I lose my patience. Medium pace is the ultimate sweet spot—give me that natural chemistry and actual development, but please let them realize they like each other before the credits roll lol

I'm absolutely into slow-burn storytelling that explores love.
That slow, simmering build-up and layering of emotions is such a beautiful experience.
Watching two people who start off on really bad terms slowly build trust, step by step,
until they can finally open up to each other completely—it's honestly incredibly intense and satisfying.

If I had to pick between the three, I'd say medium is my preferred one. I like it when stories also show the character actually being together, and for that you need the pace to be a bit faster.
I also read a lot of shorter indie games, and I've found I don't mind a faster pace either, if the author manages to sell me on the chemistry between the characters, or there's some kind of established relationship that's well executed.
Slow burn can also be really good when done well, but I've seen a lot of writers confuse slow pace with *no* pace, so I am a bit picky on that one. Plus, the pay off has to be really good to make all the rest worthwhile, and that can be tricky. If the scene when they actually get together falls flat all the rest is ruined too

I'd say medium pace. I like when the relationship develops gradually and naturally, but I don't want it to take forever before the characters actually get closer. Slow burn can be really enjoyable when it's well-written, but sometimes I prefer a balanced pace where there's enough build-up without feeling too dragged out.
