So I was feeling nostalgic and tried to replay a few older ELF games on my windows 10 and to my surprise one of them isn't compatible with it and the others while they work are unfortunately limited to no exceptions play on full screen mode only as opposed to having the option of playing window style.

I'm currently seeking the following games:
Original Title: 遺作 DMM版
Romaji: Isaku - DMM Edition
Released Date: 2017/10/10
Company, Producer: Elf
Purchase link: https://dlsoft.dmm.co.jp/detail/elf_0028/?i3_ord=3&i3_ref=search

Original Title:同級生 Windows版【Windows10対応】
Romaji:Doukyuusei Windows Version
Release Date: 2017/10/10
Purchase Link:https://dlsoft.dmm.co.jp/detail/elf_0035/?i3_ord=3&i3_ref=search

Original Title:【el】【Windows10対応】
Romaji:El
Release Date: 2017/06/23
Purchase Link:https://dlsoft.dmm.co.jp/detail/dmmgames_0039/?i3_ord=3&i3_ref=search

Original Title:エルフオールスターズ脱衣雀【Windows10対応】
Romaji: Elf All stars Datsuijan
Release Date:2017/10/10
Purchase Link:https://dlsoft.dmm.co.jp/detail/elf_0030/?i3_ord=3&i3_ref=search

Original Title:エルフオールスターズ脱衣雀2【Windows10対応】
Romaji:Elf All Stars Datsuijan 2
Release Date:2017/10/16
Purchase Link:https://dlsoft.dmm.co.jp/detail/elf_0036/?i3_ord=3&i3_ref=search

Would be much MUCH appreciated.

I realize that this is technically necroposting of the highest offense, but I'm posting this in hopes that it may partially help OP (if they haven't found what they were looking for yet) or anyone else who's looking to bypass forced fullscreen on old (Win98-ish) eroge on a modern OS. All you have to do is use an old utility program primarily created for solving issues caused by old DirectX versions in 3D games, that is, DXWnd. It's a safe tool with decades of years of development and practical application behind it. While using it for 3D games requires a lot of tinkering, I have been able to bypass forced fullscreens as well as tackle issues caused by that act in eroge/VNs with a few simple steps.
In order to begin modifying the game (or rather how modifying how DXWnd allows you to run the game, since none of the original files are being changed), you need to navigate from Edit to Add. Once you are there, you need to fill in the "Path" line with the path to the executable of the game you are trying to modify. You can use the three dots or simply copy-paste it from Windows Explorer. Repeat the same for "Launch", and don't forget to enter the game's name. This is the basic stuff. This creates the game's entry in DXWnd's main menu.
Now for the windowed mode. "Run in Window" on this very tab should be on by default - check it if it's not. Under "Position", find "Window initial position & size" and fill in the final two boxes with the base resolution (WxH) of the game you're trying to play. The detailed info should be on VNDB, or you can use a game's CG to identify that resolution, but, as a rule of thumb, it's 640x480 for games made in the late 90s. Navigate to the Video tab, under "Screen resolution" toggle "Initial resolution" and fill it in with the same resolution as you just did.
What this should do is not only force the game to run in windowed, but also crop it in a correct way as to remove black borders while not touching the actual game screen itself. This might cause a small bug with the cursor where it's forced to stay inside the game's window, which can be really uncomfortable. To fix that, go to the "Mouse tab" and turn "Mouse clipper" to off. In "Cursor handling", turn off "Correct mouse position" and turn on "Release mouse outside window".
Keep in mind that, since you have not modified any of the game's files, nothing will change if you simply run the .exe from your desktop/folder/start menu/taskbar. You need to run DXWnd, then run the game by double-clicking it inside of DXWnd's main menu. Do be warned that this is not exactly a perfect solution. You can't really switch between fullscreen and windowed anymore (the game is stuck windowed), and a few games seem to retain just a little bit of black borders.

Bro thank you so much for necro-posting, I literally never heard of DXWND until this post and its actually allowing me to play games that were stuck at full screen, YOU THE MAN
