Otome or BL which is better

Otome because I can play as a girl. That doesn't mean I think it is better than the entire BL genre. I still like BL for the story and play BL
 
I like both.But I have to say the BL games do have more interesting stories.
 
They both have their own merits, so I just can't decide. I listen to otome CDs for the Situational Voice, but I don't listen to BL for the Situational Voice.
 
Both offer different things so I enjoy both for different reasons. If I'm in the mood for something soft and heart warming with pretty art, I'll pick up an otome. If I want darker and more mature themes where the characters possibly get tortured physically and emotionally, I'll go for a BL

I was never really into BL—my friend tried to get me into it, but it just wasn't my thing. She liked to tell me about different shows and games, but I wasn't interested in them myself. She, on the other hand, wasn't into typical otome games. Everyone just has different tastes, and that's okay.
Our friendship almost fell apart when she encouraged me to watch Enzai—it was TOTALLY not my thing ;)

Why not both :3 jk apart, in general I like BL more because the relationships are more "equal" (when seme/uke roles aren't stereotyped) and the main protagonist is always fleshed out instead of self-insert.

JJ He's truly a real character of a gangster game. There's no comparison with the pathetic heroines of otome gangster games,I would kill them all in just one second xP

I love both but as a game I've always liked BL more due to my taste. I like heavy games with dark aspects, and most Otome games are very light when compared side by side with BL. Also, I LOVE voiced main characters, I've heard somewhere it's rare to have a voice MC in Otome due to self shipping but oh man having a voiced female characters would be awesome.

if you are looking for darker otome, you should look into r18 titles, since they tend to have darker storylines. coincidentally their mcs are very often voiced too ww
 
i love both otome and bl. almost equally! my choice depends on my current mood a lot; there are times where i want to be loved by the LIs, yet there are also times where i want to be a mere bystander of someone's love story. i'm the type to self-insert a lot when playing otomes, so when i want to enjoy a story as a mere reader, i will go for bl :3

do you have any recommendations? The ones I looked into didn't catch my attention and weren't as dark as I expected. Most I've seen were either 99% hentai or not dark at all 💔

agony/kinshiiku stuff is pretty good! succulent's stuff can be pretty dark at times too, but they also hardly count as otome imo ww. ogamika no himegoto is real good too!

So glad to see another Omerta fan. No comparison AT ALL. JJ would be like the goddess of gangster otome protagonists. Like oh a kiss ?—he pulls out the Beretta and you know it's real XD

i like both as well. bl games and webtoons are really great but for drama cds, i've always more into otome cds.
 
I like both but in different medium. BL - mostly manga, anime and Drama CD, I have never played any Bl games tho. For Otome is only games.
