Otome CD: SE on or SE off?

Otome cd releases available digitally these days let you choose whether or not to have sound effects (SE). Which do you prefer?

Personally, I usually listen with SE on. That said, I think the mood can be ruined when the sound effects are too loud or feel unnatural. Even so, I prefer having them because I enjoy the extra sense of immersion and realism they provide.

But I agree with you, when it's unnatural it's kinda.... weird. I feel like I'm in a fish market hearing someone play with an octopus lol it's really rare tho (I never encountered one that made me change to SE off). For me, it's much better with SE on, I can understand what they're doing.

I usually play games with sound effects on, around 80-100%. Without sound or effects, playing feels a bit lonely and boring, like simply reading an e-novel.

I selectively turn off R18 content; I'm not used to hearing strange sounds, as they distract me.

Always SE on! I also agree that sometimes it might be a little off-putting if it sounds unnatural, but I definitely still prefer SE on, and I have never felt that it distracted me so badly that I have to listen without it

Always SE on to help with the immersion! That said, ive come across some very interesting SEs, like that one repeated kissing SE that Ichijou Hirame always uses, or during the sex scenes when it sounds like poor girl needs more lubrication (cuz why does the SE sound like dry cardboard )

I feel the same way.
I believe sound effects play a crucial role in enhancing immersion and heightening the dramatic quality.
However, if the sound effects are too loud, they can sometimes spoil the atmosphere of the drama, so it would be great to have an adjustment feature.

I generally prefer having sound effects included. There are times when I want to focus solely on the voices, but when I want to fully immerse myself in the world of the story, I prefer having the sound effects.

I also prefer having SE. It's better to be more immersed than when it's made up of voice only.

I also prefer ones with sound effects. They make the experience feel more immersive, almost like I'm actually there in the scene.

On except if the voice actor mumbles something and I couldn't catch what they said. It's easier to replay and understand without SE.
