I wanted to know what you guys thought about sfx and music in otome games/cds🧐. Do you turn them off or keep them on? Is there a reason as to why you like it the way you do? I'm curious, I haven't seen that much discussion on the topic before.

In games I love sfx and music. It makes the game feel more polished and official. As for cds, it's more of a mixed bag. I love sfx in general, so it's only natural that I'd want it in my cds.

Music on the other hand is a completely different story. Idk why, but cds always have the corniest music known to man💀🥀. I usually just turn it off and play my own superior music.(If anyone has any cds with cool music let me knowww)

I keep them ON lol.

Especially for drama CDs, I need to know what they're doing, so I always prefer having SE (and delete the "no SE" folder). Even if the SE sounds completely bizarre, I still keep it on lol. I love some drama CDs with music too! For example, Kindan Kyuuketsuki or Kankinkon theme songs are beautiful *chef's kiss*

For otome games, I always lower the BGM but keep the SFX like they recommend. If I love the opening or ending enough, I'll gladly listen to it. Otherwise, I skip it (or leave to do something else when the credits can't be skipped).

Do you mean you set background music you think fits better in the game yourself? That's a good approach. I usually keep it on, because I want to first experience the story atmosphere the official production wants to convey to the audience. After all, background music and sound effects play a big role in highlighting the plot. Now I think following your approach is also a great idea, and I'll give it a try next time.(y)

I always keep them on, even in cds. Music in cds totally elevates the experience imo, and like you said makes the cd feel more high quality and polished. It also makes the emotional moments hit WAY harder and i am a victim to crying alot with those kinds of cds, like the situation is already sad enough but the piano in the background be making me even more emotional 😭 (i still cant get over Arlen's 2nd volume in rouge et noir and that damn piano track when he asked MC to arrest him 💔💔)

And also because music in cds are kind of rare I always love it when they're have it! I find that AA cds tend to be more likely to have them so its very dry out here in the r18 land lol. The best music i have ever heard though is from the Shinsengumi Wasurenagasa series, this track (only an unofficial cover of the unreleased original) specifically makes me cry like a baby every time I hear it :(

Always on! It really does elevate the experience, and I've fallen in love with so many otome game OSTs over the years. Just hearing them brings back memories of playng the games. It can be a bit distracting, though, and I really love hearing the characters' voices and SFX more than anything, so I usually turn the volume down enough so that the music is still noticeable but not too loud 🥹
