I was wondering what everyone thinks about LIs with female seiyuu. I love Megumi Ogata's voice so I don't really mind female seiyuu as long as they pull it off though for R-18 otome games I would prefer male seiyuu only. Some of fav my characters voiced by female seiyuu are Sakuya from norn9 and Mizuki from charade maniacs.

I think they're great and would love to see more of them! It's nice to see diversity in voices. I have my own favorites in general, but as someone who doesn't pick works based on who's in them, I don't mind as long as the performance is good!

I can still accept all-age works, and I don't mind.

But in R18 voice works, unless it is a supporting actress or a passer-by role, I hope the male voice actor's dubbing will not sound too awkward, thinking, "Ah! The male protagonist is dubbed by a female voice actor. In fact, I'm listening to a girl." This makes me lose interest.

It's fine to have one, but not essential.
I think having a voice actor can help in understanding the protagonist's personality.
There's also an option in the settings to turn off the female voice actor.

Opened the thread to mention Megumi Ogata and you beat me to it lol. Needless to say I'm a fan ^_^

Guys and Vallewida from Enzai (BL game) were also voiced by women and I think it's fine but I do see how it may cause confusion in R18 games of such nature

I wouldn't mind not knowing the voice actor's gender, but once I find out, it feels a bit weird when I listen to the audio again—though I'd still enjoy it if the female seiyuu's voice suits the male character in the audio! 😁

I think it's ok if they can pull it off. It's awkward, tho, if you can hear it's a woman. I have never heard a woman voice R18 stuff as a male 🤔 but there is a voice actress called Junko Minegawa who voices occasionally male characters, and I personally like her

As long as it suits the character, it's fine! And if I don't specifically look into it, wouldn't they not even know that a female voice actress acted in it?

For love interests - ABSOLUTELY NO. They are fine when voicing underage boys though. But a woman voicing a male above the age of 18 is just incomprehensible and looks like some producer tried to push a specific voice actress at all cost.

:redcard:
[Legacy roles where the character ages from childhood to adulthood, like Masako Nozawa voicing Goku in Dragon Ball, don't count.]

I don't mind. As long as the voice acting fits the character, having female voice actors voice male characters has its own unique charm. Besides, in many well-known Japanese anime, many male protagonists are voiced by female voice actors.

Some people just really like male characters voiced by female voice actors, so I actually think it's pretty normal.

I have no objection to female voice actors voicing male characters.
As long as the voice suits the character, the voice actor's gender doesn't matter.
