Moneko said this, and I honestly feel the same way. It really feels like things have been heading in this direction over the past few years, and we haven't seen another creator like "Mr. Pink" in a long time.
Bit of a long post but I'll add my two cents:
MMD as a medium has gotten a strong paint over with and after 2020, with creators phasing in and out and trends shifting completely.
Iwara has become mainstream, as far as the niche is concerned, and I feel as if the average content has gotten an enormous western bias nowadays..
The site's home looks closest to a r34's one than ever - sex scenes, koikatsu, montages, dry animations put together and still mostly recycled from those same pioneers we (I?

) would watch passionately way back. It's been a long time now and the amount of new creators that are willing to create, innovate or share are so few..
It does indeed feel like the amount of genuinely great makers nowadays has diminished badly, but fair enough.
Some of the ones I considered great have started making the same stuff over and over, others just come back once in a long while or even stopped improving altogether in favor of consistency (sells better).
My personal taste aligns with the Japanese one from the older times, so today's standard is very different and 'boring' in a sense.
I stumbled into MMD by chance and what got me was the spirit and creativity it allowed, quite a different mood than your average hentai animation. Hell, you could recognize creators videos from the thumbs alone, that's gotten quite hard today. Or maybe I'm just beginning to bark at clouds...
