Rushed through this game when it first came out and then stalled when I got to Adel's route. The pacing of the story was too dragged out for most of the LIs, so while there were lots of sweet and cute 1-1 moments with each LIs, it's a shame the writing of each character is so inconsistent between routes. Adel's route was a huge disappointment. He was portrayed as the "brains" of the group and we see that in every other person's route, yet we saw NONE of that on his route. And everyone else were just way too oblivious about the situation with Adel. Nobody questioned or took the time to ask him what's wrong really broke the immersion of that found family that was established in the common route.
It's too bad because I really loved the art style and the UI/UX that feels very nostalgic, cute, and clean--it even let us choose the text window's background! Another detail I absolutely loved was the sprites being brighter or darker depending on the time of day. The highlights surrounding the characters also change hues (orange if they're back lit by the sunset, green/blue if they're in Ces's room or at the beach because of the green themes, bright with the LI's main color if the sun's out). Unlike the writing, the art choices and mechanics really helped the immersion. I was playing Neon Clash at the same time and the difference in the UI/UX was so jarring that Temirana's really stood out.
So overall it's a mixed bag. I can't say if I'd recommend this game for the story but the experience was still fun. Unfortunately have to plow through Tobias's route before getting to the secret one. Hoping it'll change my opinion, but I'm doubtful.
Anyone else had similar thoughts?
