LaDS current ish :(

What makes it worse is that several of the controversies started by CN players were completely fake and had absolutely nothing to do with the character 😥

I am aware the 731 and the femicide reference are not completely related to him, but they still removed him because of that, their mismanagement, or both. And which controversies, that are started by CN players, are fake? I know that they aren't happy with their game for a multitude of reasons that are very much real.

Need some actual sources on this that aren't from social media atp. A lot of people on social media are playing the telephone game and the rampant misinformation is outright insane right now.
  • People taking a few posts from XHS and Weibo and acting like these posts they represent the entirety of the CN community or taking them out of context.
  • People reposting a video of a man pacing back and forth in nervous and claims to be Paper's CEO. It turns out to be a CEO from some tech company.
  • People pulling out conspiracies theories such as making rumors that CN otome gachas would be affected by the current situation.
  • I've seen someone basically go today as "It's the competitors fault and they're the ones brought up the number and causing the controversy!" Like, which competitors specifically?
  • Content creators and VTubers that don't even play the game also dogpiling on this to mock the game and its players, adding more to the fire.
And none of these people cite their sources. And if they claim they do, they usually say "I have insiders!" or show another social media post. Not even an article, research paper, news outlet, anything.

All I know for certain is that, regardless of who pulled the trigger, deleting him solved nothing, it's the company's fault, and this will certainly be a case study.

This decision has left me completely disheartened. Eliminating a sixth love interest doesn't magically resolve the unequal treatment the current characters receive. Infold completely lose off course instead of focusing on what players actually wanted: a clear roadmap and assurances of better balance not a drastic measure that limits the game's future potential. It really feels like a slap in the face ಥ_ಥ

731 is not fake though? and neither is a reference to an actual femicide. sure, neither are related to valko specifically, but even he himself had tons of recycled concepts and animations from other lis. its clear they deleted him just to cause the community to fight and forget about current political issues at infold, but its not "fake". if anything them releasing valko in his current state would be a much bigger mistake kinda w
Yes, I know it's a serious situation because of what happened, but they literally only brought up the complaint the exact moment that number appeared in the game. It feels like they just used it as an excuse to eliminate the character instead of actually fixing the route with the bad number.

I completely agree. The company is entirely to blame for everything that is happening with the game right now. They dug their own grave and now they don't know what to do about the consequences of their own actions.

nope, theyve been saying this for months. but ppg just did what it does best, aka ignore their playerbase LOL

Yeah, I'm confused as to why it's a good idea. And people keep on bring that it's under Xavier's story so he's the one to blame and not wolf man. Thing is, Xavier isn't connected to the scientists that's mentioned in the report while wolf man is IIRC lol

Wow, it was honestly a terrible year for me to decide to start playing LADS, for real lol. At this point, after reading the comments, I have no idea what's going on anymore... It's supposedly a reference to a terrible incident on one hand, and femicide on the other... I'm just going to keep playing that cute-but-diabolical kitten card game and try to beat Rafayel, because I swear that silly fish is cheating—he's the only one who wins every time I play against him (┛◉Д◉)┛彡┻━┻

Some people like to think fictional characters as real. And yeah, I agree that it's the fault of whoever made these decisions lol. They live in a country with that kind of government, what on earth did they expect. They ignore players, the ones who read and noticed, who pointed out that it's a bad idea??? And then write a new character that's connected when their players' patience are at their limits??? Their egos are a bit too big. Even the other CN otome gachas, even the company's other one MLQC, don't even have these problem or as big as these controversies lol

This isn't a simple character removal case, this drama has reached Chinese government, and the government did keep an eye on lads because of numerous previous dramas.

Everything is just paper's fault.

Girl, mlqc and lads are under the same developer lol infold is just the global market publisher of lads, like the case of hoyoverse and mihoyo.

Yeah, it was really disappointing.
Lately, I've been losing more and more trust in the people running the site.

Not really a fan of wolf concept but the goofy scientist vibe of Valko completely charmed me! Hopefully he's gonna be brought back (or silentwhisper pls do your thing pls it's gonna be so fking funny😂😂😂)

What bugs me is I see so many Sinophobic comments due to this. You're playing a Chinese game made by Chinese people yet every time a controversy happens, the first thing you do is shit on the entire Chinese community?

Infold's writing and marketing team was very tone deaf for using 731, out of all numbers. What are the odds? Never bathe in the pot? Is this an out of season Halloween joke? It felt so out of place to use that to introduce a whimsical Kitchen feature. Add the fact that it "coincidentally" connects to a real life case too 💀 The skeptical part of me thinks it's intentional because someone at Infold thought it was so profound and cool to hide the references in their game, like an "iykyk" moment.

Those two issues are very much real in China but I've seen enough of people on the other side of the globe downplaying it like it's nothingburger. If you can't bother trying to understand the culture where the game comes from, please stick to playing only Western games for the rest of your life. It's giving "I listen to K-pop and worship K-pop idols but I look down on Koreans."

And I really, really hate that so much focus in on the "Valko is for the gays" comments. Such comments exist, but why are we cherry-picking instead of looking at the whole picture? People only use those comments to laugh at LADS fans and disregard valid complaints, I'm baffled to see fans siding with that group of people, because tbfh in their eyes you're a clown too. Why don't they force BL into eroge and the men's gacha, but us otome players need to welcome BL ships or tolerate the idea of anything BL-related in our games? Don't get me started on the "Valko is the only manly guy, the rest look gay" comments, and the so-called LADS fans who cheer for those 💀

Social media is becoming more and more intolerable recently. I thought r/otomegames was a safe space, but I notice certain gacha players permanently camping there now. I recognize their usernames because in every other gacha sub they call otome players and whole Chinese population homophobic at every chance they get.

Yeah, even outside LADs, I noticed that everytime a controversy for a gacha game happens in China, outsiders think they're being entitled shits hive mind for shallow reasons without researching why they're mad.

Like with Reverse 1999, they simplified the situation to "they're mad about Rhiannon because they don't like her design!" And it turns out that they're mad about other things such as how the character was handled, the insane powercreep, that more of the livestreams are about merch rather than the game itself, etc. CN players want to fight for the game get better and then outsiders think they're being entitled and that the poor indie (/s) company should be defended??? No wonder why none of their boycotts succeeded.

I've seen people criticized some medias (such as YIIK: A Post-Modern RPG) for referencing or having similiarities to real-life tragedies so it confuses me when they downplay this one and say "But it's not one to one!" and "It's just a coincidence!"

And they don't realize that the experiment severe enough to the point where BNHA got banned in China for indrectly referencing both the number and experiment. The knowledge on the internet is vast enough that they can research on the internet to understand why it's so serious without people having to tell them on social media. However, most people don't like to read and learn nowadays and want to be spoonfed information.

And I really, really hate that so much focus in on the "Valko is for the gays" comments. Such comments exist, but why are we cherry-picking instead of looking at the whole picture? They always think it's so easy to fight and bully women, people don't like it when they have things on their own. Nothing's stopping them from playing otome games and it's certainly something when they want to basically sideline or even erase women characters. And they all think "otome" is a catch-all term for romance when it's not. Like, there's other games and genres that would appeal to them yet they do this.

And, ngl, I always found these kind of comments honestly to be homophobic and it annoys me that they say this about any bishounen and ikeman character in general. I really don't like people who go "I need characters to be manly men with beards and muscles because these characters don't look like men!" as a result.

Social media is becoming more and more intolerable recently. I thought r/otomegames was a safe space, but I notice certain gacha players permanently camping there now. I recognize their usernames because in every other gacha sub they call otome players and whole Chinese population homophobic at every chance they get.
Yeah, I was in a subreddit for a completely different game with a completely different genre and thought it would be safe. Saw people mocking the situation and spreading misinformation. I tried to tell them that they're being misinformed and that this didn't happen because they were parasocial crazies and tried to point out how severe the number is. Got downvoted by a hell lot.

A person told me "well, I understand the tragedy and why they're upset, but it's not really misinformation since they're parasocial crazies." Some other dude who commented linked me a twitter post that shows comments from XHS from four randm players as "evidence". I called the person out for believing in random social media posts with no believable source. Got downvoted while this dude got upvotes.

ATP, I do my hobbies, and downloaded browser extensions to filter out and hide posts from social media lol
