Japan's coming hyperinflation mentioned in an anime.

I was surprised to hear about hyperinflation in an anime. In Toradora Episode 18 at min 15 ish, a teacher brings up spending money and saving for retirement. She states if japan has hyperinflation she will be left penniless. She says at end of the scene about buying a condo, but that's not the answer either btw. Are the Japanese more aware of hyperinflation than Americans?
