Is there a popular otome game that everyone loves but you just can't stand?

《Taisho x Alice – HEADS & TAIL》Severyone I know who's played it gives it rave reviews, but I didn't really like it. The female protagonist is very unique and great, but the final truth route was hard for me to accept, just like 《Ozmafia》.

After completing the game, I only felt empty, like it was just a game, a dream

The male characters you romanced weren't what you imagined, not even completely independent individuals. Unexpected, and somewhat speechless.

Hakuoki.

With all due respect, I'm not hating this otome game. I'm glad my friends love it, but sadly I can't hype it with them. Maybe back then I expected some pure historical, not combine it with fantasy or vampire-like. I still played it until the end tho. But when my friend ask me to play the sequel (or prequel?), I refuse.

Code Realize. It's not that I hate it but it just doesn't hook me, no matter how hard I try. It feels kind of meh to me personally. When I close then game, I don't feel motivated to open it again and eventually I forget about it. So I always end up putting it aside

Piofiore. I only finished one route (Dante), and just couldn't force myself to finish the rest ":)

First, I can't say anything about MC (who just sits in one place, while occasionally trying or talk to Dante or run away).
Second, near the end it just felt like a mess to me, with things happening either too fast or somewhere on the background (like death of some character that affect the other one) and weird plot twists game just throws at the player.

Maybe other routes are better, but after Dante I felt so bored and uninterested in the rest, so I dropped it.

Olympia Soiree. I understand that its for a japanese audience and the political climate of japan especially in regards to racism and colorism is not so emphasised compared to the west, but... from a western lens, it feels very much like a self righteous and shallow attempt to address racism/colorism. It seemed to favour making Olympia seem like this do-no-wrong white saviour who kindly advocates for the poor and impoverished, rather than actually saving the poor and impoverished from the system that failed them.

Im sure the game was made in good faith but I feel japan is not critical enough in its insights on racism/colorism (since its such a homogeneous society) compared to countries like America which have battled racism for decades. This isnt really to bash the game and its not like im expecting the game to offer some ground breaking insights on racism but it obviously tried to make some political commentary that was definitely more suitable for an audience that wasnt... I guess, "well acquainted" with discrimination

In your defense, you started right off on the worst route. Nothing against Dante but I feel you, he's so boring and the route is a mess :boys_grumble:

the cupid parasite fandisc oh my god i enjoyed the main game quite a bit and seeing the rating of the fandisc i assumed i would have a good time with it too but waow . it might actually be the worst thing i ever played ... i had so much hope in it that i played through every single guy's story hoping i would find a gem but instead i found nothing. it also ruined a lot of what i found charming about the cast like secret route's character in his after story or the way lynette acts in shelby's i dont know what they were thinking while making those decisions i guess they were just shoving tropes they thought people would find sexy but for me it just didnt work ??? at all ???

in the game's defense i did enjoy allan's afterstory and the new guy was fine i guess

Ignoring 'Love and Deepspace' (the 3D throws me off), I dropped Ozmafia so fast. Satoi's art is lovely but thats all I enjoyed about that game lol

it's rare for me to dislike/hate something and im moreso neutral on it, but piofiore is a big one that i just think its kinda overrated for what it is. I think people overhype yang ALOT when his route and character is just fine - people love to use him as the poster boy for red flags and those self proclaimed red flag lovers cant even handle someone as tame as toma so like LMAOOOOO

Taisho x Alice. The protagonist is unique, yes. The characters are interesting, yes. The twist behind it was impressive, yes. But something still feels off. I don't get the hype for the game, and it's one that i don't feel like trying the FD for.

Also, Cupid Parasite. It was a big turn-off. i couldn't continue with the other routes. I tried so i could understand the game, but in general it's so boring that i don't recommend it.
