If you want to vent after completing it, I'm here to discuss it with you. :samuraihero:

Heyy! so.. i finished it few months ago, i was quite shock about the ending...
i never thought that Mikasa will be the one that kills Eren... and i dont know... the ending just give me a vibes of ... either path they took, the future never changes, the destruction and civilization still arrived. The only difference was the time given... I still remember watching a reel where the voice actors of Mikasa and Eren was on stage? and then the VA of Mikasa just asked a favor to the VA of Eren about saying ''tadaima'' to Mikasa, I CRIEDDDDD DAMN

The ending was a shitshow. After a certain point, everything seemed to happen at random, with little or bullshit explanation and the conclusion... I don't know what kind of message the mangaka was aiming at?

:reallyconfused:

'Genocide all your enemies before it's too late or be genocided by them at some point in the future'? That's grim. And a bit juvenile. Eren being in love with Mikasa all this time? When he kept rejecting her clinginess in the past? Please. This is so OOC you'd think a different person wrote that part as their officially-sanctioned fanfiction. Having Mikasa kill Eren was such a cruel thing to do to her - suddenly, she is given much spotlight (after being sidelined for so long), but only to give her more grief. I wouldn't be able to disrespect a main character I created in this manner - seriously, what's Isayama's beef with Mikasa?! Eren's intent to be stopped by his friends is also some of the most convoluted reasoning in fiction. It's really out of place when you consider the big picture of the story and how it developed.

I think Isayama just got bored near the end of the manga and stopped putting as much effort into writing. He wanted his tragic end, period, and didn't bother with filling the gaps on the way there.

Yeahh... tbh i also didnt understand what message the author wanted to transmit with that ending,
The romantic feelings Eren had for Mikasa felt very sudden to me. From my perspective, it was clear that Eren deeply cared about and treasured Mikasa, but the anime mostly portrayed his affection as a family bond. So when the romantic aspect was revealed, I was left wondering, "Wait, when did Eren actually fall in love with Mikasa?"

As for Eren becoming the villain and his friends having to save the world by killing their dearest friend, I'm still not sure how I feel about it. Throughout the story, there seemed to be only two proposed solutions: Zeke's euthanasia plan or Eren's Rumbling. Eren chose the Rumbling, but in the end, the outcome wasn't all that different. Mikasa eventually lost Eren and had to continue living without him, whereas she might have been able to live peacefully with him under different circumstances. (which was the IF route shown if they had escaped)

I don't know. I feel like there isn't really a "correct" answer regarding the choices everyone made. That's part of what makes the ending so tragic and open to interpretation.
