I don't have anyone to talk to about this since I don't have any real-life friends and my conscience is killing me right now, so I just wanted to vent and maybe get advice from someone here who's been through something similar. (Sorry for the long text and the rant) In short, my younger brother wanted to buy a Nintendo Switch 2 and ended up getting scammed. My older brother made the payment, so he feels guilty for not paying attention and letting the scam happen. My younger brother and I are very close, and he trusts me a lot, so he told me about the scam he and my older brother fell for, but asked me not to tell our parents. They ended up telling our parents a half-truth, saying they gave up on buying it instead of telling them about the scam. Yesterday morning, when my brothers and my dad were getting ready for work, I was a little sleepy when I went to have breakfast, and so when they were talking, I misheard the conversation. When they mentioned "payment" and "Switch," I misheard. Sleepy, I misinterpreted the conversation and ended up thinking they were telling my dad everything. When my dad arrived for lunch in the afternoon, he brought up the Switch 2 conversation. Since I thought they had told my dad everything, I ended up commenting something like, "People these days are quite malicious. My younger brother was so happy and excited to get the Switch 2, and this guy went and scammed him and took his money. How unfair!" My dad asked what this story was about a scam and losing money, and that's when I realized he didn't know anything and that I had just made a mistake. I ended up having to explain everything, and at the end of the conversation, my dad said he wasn't angry that they lost money, but upset that they hadn't told him what happened. Then he told me to try to convince my siblings to go to him and tell him what happened, but I know that if I do that, my siblings will be angry with me the moment they find out I opened my mouth (even unintentionally) and won't tell me anything else. Especially my older brother, who's already very closed off. To make matters worse, my dad keeps calling them and making indirect comments all the time, always bringing up the Switch 2 incident whenever he can, saying things like "why did you give up on buying it, didn't you want one that badly?" or "these days people fall for scams a lot online" (he's so discreet, my God (┛◉Д◉)┛彡┻━┻). Personally, I want to tell them everything soon because I feel so guilty and my dad's jabs are driving me crazy, but I don't know how to do it without making them angry, so I'm stuck in this dilemma of wanting to tell them but not knowing how.

That's rough buddy... but now seriously, if your father isn't angry at them and won't punish themor anything then you shouldn't feel that bad, just be more careful next time ^^; it's his job to try to educate his kids on what to do when stuff like that happens anyways, if it were my mom it wouldn't have been that nice so I think you can just try to get them to talk to your father without saying he already knows

I ended up telling them. My younger brother was a little upset, but my older brother in the other hand accepted it normally and said he already suspected it, lol. Thanks for reading and for giving me advice, I was really feeling bad. Have a good day ^^ (or afternoon or evening depending on where you live!)
