How do you guys play console games? Actual hardware or emulator?

How do you guys usually play games? PC, mobile, console?

I've been playing a lot more console games lately, mostly Switch games.

But when it comes to otome games, I still end up playing quite a few of them on PC. Sometimes it's because I need to use a translation patch, or I run them through an emulator so I can use OCR + machine translation. And for games from older systems, I usually just emulate them lol.

So I'm curious, how do you guys usually play console games? Do you prefer actual hardware, or are you more of an emulator person?

I also emulate older systems (if I don't own them), but I enjoy playing on official hardware! I own a Switch and a Vita, so just play the games on the consoles themselves (and PSP on the Vita as well). However, usually I prefer playing VNs on my laptop ;b I think it's more comfortable to read on the bigger screen

The consoles are pretty convenient for playing while laying down or on the go though! I prefer them when it's cold, as I can relax on my bed all cozy, haha ;)

I do both, if its available to me I buy it (or at least wait for a sale). For older titles I do emulate and use a translator.

I think I'm more of an emulator person than a hardware person. Because I prefer to play while sitting down, using handheld hardware always lures me into lying down while playing (I don't know why lol). One more reason to play on an emulator is that I can use OCR translation, making it easier to play Japanese otome games.

I try as much to have the actual hardware but as the time passes some of my consoles died and well I never bothered trying to find a replacement for it (either get it fixed which was expensive due to needing to import something that is not made anymore or buying a new one) so I emulate the older ones, emulation helps a lot specially due to the rise in $$ for older consoles that is happening nowadays

Consoles mainly like switch and mobile. PC as well, I actually prefer the PC because it's a bigger screen but for older PC games my laptop can't handle it and I don't want to mess it up. I tried the emulators before as well and they worked well! I don't know if anyone else have experiences with the emulators or other programs messing up their PC? I think it has to do with running higher graphics or something.

I'm definitely more of an emulator person, even though I have most of my games on consoles anyway, but it's more about owning them and being able to experience my favorite games on the original hardware. I prefer playing on my PC with a bigger screen, without having to charge my console or go through the extra step of changing the cartridge whenever I want to play something else. And if I ever feel like lying down while playing, I can just stream my PC screen to my phone. Maybe it's just me being lazy, but I work and spend most of my time in front of a PC anyway, so it just feels way more accessible, I guess?

With an emulator. Luna Translator is absolute top-tier these days since it can hook text directly within the emulator. Running it on PC with the translator and streaming it to a tablet in bed is straight-up heaven, lol.
