How do you feel about a guy playing otome?

I don't care at all. Does that mean girls aren't allowed to play galgames? So-called otome games are just aimed primarily at women—it doesn't mean guys aren't allowed to play them, right? Of course, I know some people are being really extreme these days, insisting on banning guys from playing otome games. To be honest, I think that's really over the top…

I feel like everyone can and should play otomes !! , it may not be the most inclusive genre compared to amare vns but it's almost always good experiences and like it's a solo gameplay so i really don't think we should judge anyone for their personal liking ^. .^

I wish that one day, I could wake up into a world where people stopped judging each other regarding whether they like things designed for men or women. Men can even find their experiences from otome games useful in their own dating lives, thinking of this as a sort of reverse engineering. Or they can just have fun.

I do not really care and even watched a couple of them olaying on twitch, vn games tend to be story driven and lots have set protags so i can see the appeal.

I sometimes play gal games, so why not? Haha! I think some otome games have interesting storylines that no matter your gender, will attract you to the game.

I don't mind men playing otome games, there's been a few I've met that love it. Some otomes just have a soft romance that some men also would like to experience. I do understand some people feeling wary of some guys getting into the genre, because there are some people who complain about having to play as a woman. But I think those are a very selected few of loud people who are annoying that way.

To answer, I don't see a problem. You can play whatever you want.

Maybe because it's called an "otome game," people think it's only for women, but no. It's not a demographic. It's a content label that was made with a female audience in mind. So, yeah, the main feature is GxB, and you as a player can see it as a story or self-insert. It's not limited to who can enjoy it.

Sorry for being "acktually" with my answers XD

Why would it matter? Plenty of people enjoy games that aren't made specifically for them. If someone likes otome games, good for them.

Women are the target audience but there is nothing stopping men from playing those games. I think it's beneficial for them to step outside and experiment stuff that are not aimed at them!

You see that in anime/manga, shounen is a demographic aimed at boys but even then there is a high number of girls engaging with these stories. The same can't be said for shoujo and boys, unfortunately. :(

It reminds me of this image lol ! I think it's totally OK and cool especially if he plays games to understand his girlfriend/wife's hobbies more 💗☺️ we even have a love interest who's an otome fan Il from café enchanté 💗

I dont care and I dont see why I should. I was so confused seeing those cn lads fans attacking some guy cosplaying the LI like dude is giving you free content why are you shitting on him lol

cn in particular is sensitive to males in otome spaces because of a long-running history of dudes harassing otome players (and women in general). still happens btw. and cn are way more vocal about their desire to protect the genre, so thats why

I don't really care about it. I don't think gender has anything to do with enjoying the story. I also get interested in galage, barage, depending on the character design and the story.

Anyone can play any game they want, right? It's got nothing to do with gender. Whether it's guys playing otome games or girls playing games targeted at men, I don't see a problem at all. If the audience base expands, it'll benefit game developers a lot. Higher sales mean we'll get better, more high-quality titles in return.
