How do you feel about a guy playing otome?

Omg... I can't believe I never heard of this before HAHA I don't think I've ever seen any primarily female fandom acting like this? Unless it was about real K/J-idols lol but you're right. Otome girlies don't really get to that level.
the entire situation was so bad it indirectly caused the whole studio to shut down. on the brighter side though, the ntr games they produced before closure are pretty good! with boku no kanojo wa gatenkei being one of the best in the entire genre (of ntr that is). i read it and it is indeed good:D
so yeah, unless we are talking about kpop theres no female fandom that would come even close to that

I think it's awesome! If girls can enjoy visual novels or shonen anime, I don't see why the opposite can't happen. If a piece of media has great characters and a compelling plot, it shouldn't stop another gender from enjoying it. Honestly, all are welcome to the community!

Anyone can enjoy audiovisual content, even if they aren't part of the target audience. Take the manga industry, for example, where genres like shonen, seinen, josei, or shoujo aren't necessarily read by their intended audiences. What I think makes a difference is whether that person would have a problem playing as a female main character, which would completely undermine the core idea of what otome is.

I believe it doesn't matter whether a man or a woman plays it! I think gaming is a hobby that anyone can enjoy, regardless of gender.

It's totally find. For me, it actually makes me feel safer, sort of like they're allies. I also think that people that like women should also play otome games to get a feel for what their partner may prefer in a significant other.

I think it's totally worst to have men that shame otome games, or otome game players. I actually see this quite often on the Love and Deepspace subreddit, where players would sometimes talk about how their significant other was pressuring them to quit the game.

There is hope though, because there are also men that said that they gained a greater understanding of women, or being in a romantic relationship with a woman through playing otome games.

All in all, I guess it's just if you respect the genre and medium you're playing. If you do, then that's great and wonderful and lovely :akazukin_yeah: If you don't, it doesn't matter the gender of the player.

I maintain a neutral attitude towards this. I usually play games by myself, entertain myself, and don't care much about how others play games. Playing otomega games quietly in a corner of my room is very happy and satisfying for me.

I dont really mind it. Talking together about the differences between otome and non otome games from a guy's perspective would be pretty interesting to discuss.

But if theyre only playing it just to look down on otome games, well its time for you to get out.

I welcome it if a man behaves like a gentleman.
I am interested in what men find appealing about otome games. For instance, what aspects of the MC do they find cute, or what qualities of the LIs do they find cool? I only want to hear positive feedback. I do not want to hear any negative opinions at all.

i rly don't mind! honestly, i'd find it cool if they play it unironically and genuinely enjoy it!

what would bother me is asking for a male protagonist. clearly, if they're asking that, it wouldn't be a stretch to assume that they don't know much about the genre as they don't even know what "otome" means.

otherwise, men playing otome don't rly bother me! in fact, it makes me happy! i find it rly similar to me, a girl, enjoying the shounen genre in manga/anime, although i rly like shoujo too! enjoyment rly isn't a matter of gender, and i'd be happy if people were into the things i like.

additionally, it would also be interesting to gain perspective and opinions from the opposite gender when it comes to games targeted towards women, and vice versa

:alice_happy:

As long as it's not just for attention, and playing normally, I don't care. Anyone can play otome games for the characters, the story, or whatever interests them.

No issue at all, I have a couple of guy friends who have played some otome games and I myself play games targeted more towards men too ^^

I think everyone can play otome games.Whether this person is male or female or anything else. In fact, if any other animal plays games, as long as it can play, it can play games too.I don't like the idea that some people shouldn't play certain games. In the past, girls were also often thought to be uninterested in video games, and that was unfair.I also play some galgames, or games that are considered for guys to play.Games shouldn't be restricted - the genre is just what developers decide to target primarily.Just like we can't say that a game made by a developer for people who love puzzle games means those who don't like puzzle games can't play it, the same goes for otome games.
