Has any off-route LI ever stolen your attention?

Have you ever been on one's route, only to find your attention drifting to another LI you've ran through instead?
Or are you the type who stays completely focused on the LI whose route you're playing?

Usually I tend to focus deeply but can't help sometimes with boss/subordinate or close friends pairs (like Nobunaga-Mitsuhide/Ranmaru in Geten no Hana, Kento-Ikki in Amnesia) when they shows a side of them that never in their own route. :( ;´꒳`;):

I always end up wishing I was in my favorite LI's route instead whenever he pops up in a different route! ;; Happened to me with Dante, and Edward, and Hibiki, and... literally all of them LOL Though I do try to give the LI of each route attention... the favs just hit differently!

Not an LI but Owen from CupiPara kept stealing the show in Shelby and Ryuki's route, tbh I didnt care about any of the LIs i just wanted to learn more about the awkward and cute secretary so happy that he atleast got Melanie in ryukis route! Im forever morning the amazing LI he could have been...

This happens to me all the time.
Usually I have a favorite in each game I consider canon to me, so each time he appears he's the only one I see.
In Amnesia that's Toma, in Itehari - Yori, in PioFiore - Nicola,
in 9rip - Minami and so on and on.

Code Realize is probably the only exception because I like Finis, Delly and Sisi (corgi) more than LIs but those 3 aren't LIs.

It happens every time T_T Especially in stories, where characters can achieve a happy life only in their own ending, and in other characters' endings they are left to suffer alone. And every time they are on screen I'll think about it, even if there are a happy wedding happening. Cafe Enchante were horrible in this regard

Yes, this happened a lot when i was playing Hakuoki !!. I'd be playing one route and halfway through start another save to romance another character that caught my attention and just wouldn't let go lol!

There are quite a few instances of this; the character becomes even more interesting when it's not exactly their route, but the interactions are fun to watch. Bad Apple Wars is one such case; every time Alma appeared, the interaction was always fun. In White Mask, they did a good job of keeping him mysterious in every route he appeared in, other characters' routes that weren't his own. It's a shame that there isn't a You route, even though he's head over heels for Sanzu; his interactions always vary depending on the route you're playing.

i try my best to stay focused on the li who's route im doing just to be fair to him but if im playing a route i find to be quite boring then yes my attention definitely locks onto the other lis i like (or even side characters) just so i can motivate myself to continue playing ...!

i think amongst recent titles i played the one i felt this the most with was majima in chou no doku ... even if i was having fun with the other routes i could tell that my attention level was much much different when it came to his scenes hehe ^^

when it comes to side characters i felt this the most with saeki from cxm ... didnt matter which route it was every time he showed up on my screen all my attention (and love) was for him alone lmao

Seeing and reading people's comment in here is reassuring because i sometimes feel like i have too much attention on my fav ahaha

when i already decided a fav, if i play other route for completion/the whole story is interesting enough for me, my attention will always drift to my fave cuz

• More of them haha
• it gives me angst cuz after playing the fav's route, i might know too much about the fav and somberly see the reality that they might be stuck being unhappy withou MC

Many such cases happening to me, for example ugajin from omerta on liu jien route/other route and tachibana from management

tokimeki notoriously tortures with having another (sometimes favorite) ask you out and...
i can say no, but do i? also no.

i try to stay faithful to my route, but why wouldn't i enjoy this date too? ~(˘▽˘~)
it's terrible when you have double dates with route love interest and your favorite..｡:ﾟ(｡ﹷ ‸ ﹷ ✿)

a lot of the time if it's a route I haven't played through, if the distracting love interest appears heavily in the route i'm on, i'll usually play theirs next. ٩(•͈ ꇴ •͈)و ̑̑❀

Ah... yeah... that happens all the time. When there's an LI I really like, even if they're not my main route, I find myself getting butterflies over every single line they say. Even if it's not a sweet thing they're saying.
Lately, that's been the case with Tanaka-san from *Money Parasite*.

Yuzuru Saeki from Collar X Malice .. it breaks my heart everytime he appeared on screen knowing he have no route. and random mention, is March's brother, Olric, from Field of Mistria, bro is so fine :( but sadly he is not romanceable.. and also Agung from Coral Island, previously, he is not romanceable and i was so heartbroken. eventhough all the other guys is sooo fine, we always attracted to what we can't have, right? Hehe but now all is well, bcs the latest update added him as a romanceable yay

oh also a lot of the NPC from Olympia Soiree, is, very, handsome but yeah, also no route for them lol

shiraishi from cxm... i kept glancing at him even when it wasn't his route... but i'd say tokimeki gs is even worse in this regard because you can go on dates with all the guys throughout the game and it keeps testing your commitment even worse when they get jealous or you trigger best friend mode (but it's good if you want to torture them a little lol)

Not just stolen, but when I played Steam Prison Fin pretty much ruined all the other routes for me. I couldn't see the MC with anyone but him. In literally all other routes I was always like "I hope Fin's doing good..." it didn't help that that was mostly just wishful thinking
