Has a voice actor ever started getting on your nerves after a while?

Sadly, this happened to me…. :(
I used to be a huge fan of a specific VA and tracked down everything he worked on.
But one day, I picked up on a specific delivery habit he has… and it gradually started to bug me.
Tada, I can't listen to his work anymore!

All my favorite works are just gathering dust in my collection.
Anyone else experienced something like this?

I like the VA that voices Saint German in Code Realize
but hearing him voicing Lucas in Virche was painful.

I don't think any VA gets on my nerves to the point of making me stop listening to their drama cds or playing the games they voiced. It's really sad though. I can imagine how passionate you were when collecting their work. It reminds me of someone here saying that "maybe the VA is burnt out or something", fans sometimes can feel that.
:miku_depressed:

But personally, I'll always love the early works they voiced (the ones that made me fall in love) and just delete any recent ones that bug me.

yes this happened to me too once you start noticing a habit they have and especially if they always do it it starts being hard to ignore and i can't properly focus on the work

It hasn't happened to me but I can imagine. This is partly the reasons why I avoid looking up seiyuu names in advance, and even after listening/playing I try not to dig up their work history. I keep my knowledge of them contained to what I know from that specific work - unless I come across extra info about them by chance, but it's not something I intentionally search for...

Human brains are really prone to making associations, there are such cases where people love their fav VAs more after listening to them a lot, but there are cases like yours - where people feel bothered by a specific quirk of the VA after a long time following. It bothers me more when they voiced an iconic character from a game or anime, then I can't help but see that character's shadow in their other works. No matter how talented a VA is, there's only so much they can do to sound different.

I don't know if your VA is still taking on new jobs or not, maybe one day, without looking at the VA name, you might stumble upon his work and fall in love with his voice again  That is, if your brain at that point no longer notices his specific habit (or he has changed) LOL

I wouldn't say I've reached that point, but it does bother me the frequency of certain voice actors in certain otomes being because they are very popular and/or that their performance is only average. It's where I honestly turn off my brain and focus on the character and enjoy what the voice actor can give, it's like "oh, he's crying... the seiyuu is doing a good job" *ignore intrusive thoughts* or directly I'm just mute lol

I'm curious about the voice actor who gave you that impression, but I understand why you want to leave it out hehe

I can't stand bad acting in voice actors. There's this one VA whose acting is just not it for me, but they're somehow everywhere—otome games, drama CDs, everything. It's so annoying. Fortunately, there are only a couple of VAs on my 'avoid' list. But the real torture is when a game or CD has a plot that is totally my style, but THAT voice actor is in it. I've ended up hesitating so many times even though I really wanted to play.😭😭

Please VC: Mitsuhashi getting on my nerves. Everywhere I visit websites, its Mitsuhashi san every most of the drama cd. I know he is hard working producing his voice every label's works. But please I am getting tired of him since 1 years ago that its so getting in my nerves. I don't like his voice at all, he sounds like faking kindness within his soul like wearing mask that type of biases I hit. His voice is creepy when he do yandere. I am like eww! Its really disgusting. I don't like the his voices at all which is my preferences please its just my biases. Sigh, I am into healing type voice but I don't feel healing from him at all. My ears are picky always.
