Has a spoiler ever made you change your route or your favorite character while playing?

Sometimes it's really hard to avoid spoilers, but what if you accidentally see a spoiler and it completely changes your opinion?

Do you just try to ignore what you just saw?

Or does it just make you think differently?

Personally, I always try to steer clear of spoilers, but if I come across one, I try to ignore it. Up until now, no spoiler has actually made me change my mind or change my route xd

My memory is like a goldfish. Even if I read spoilers before playing, I rarely remember any character's name.

I need to play and finish the game first to see which LI stands out and becomes my favorite. It depends on many things, like how the LI talks, what kind of personality he has, and how he treats MC etc.

Even if a different LI (like the poster boy) piques my interest at first, he might not be my favorite by the end. My motto is: play first, finish every route based on the walkthrough order, and then decide on a favorite. Sometimes my favorite not even an LI lol

i kinda spoil myself when it comes to playing routes, if i like a game i accidentally come across a site with all the cgs and i spoil myself that way but it doesn't change anything i just grow more curious

Yup, it depends on the content of the spoiler. If it's too Messy, I'll skip the router altogether

I'll watch otome reviews, get spoiled on something, and then completely forget about it by the time I actually get around to playing the game. So I've learned to just avoid reading other people's comments while I'm playing a LI's route.

Even if I do get spoiled on something, it usually doesn't bother me that much as long as the story is well-written.

There are three characters, A, B, and C. A is the obvious pick at first. B is pretty good too, while C is just... there. And A's introduction is SO good. Everything about him at the beginning is basically screaming "pick me." If you were in my position, you'd probably pick him too.

But then you get further into his route and slowly realize that his personality and the person he actually is are NOTHING like what you expected. And I mean... the kind of shock where you just sit there thinking, "What the hell am I even playing?"

At that point, I either switch to another character or just drop the game entirely. Sometimes finding out what a character is really like completely kills the appeal for me. I don't even care about spoilers ruining the surprise—sometimes the spoiler is literally the only thing that saves me from wasting my time on the wrong route.

No, a spoiler won't make any changes for me while playing. Personally I would even go look for spoilers if I sort lost my interests after playing the common routes. I often go straight for the favorite character by its visual art. If I see any spoilers before I start the route, I still would love to ACTUAL experience the spoilers by my self LOL.

In some special cases, if I know that the ongoing game line will bring my favorite game character a tragic be ending, I will consider changing to another game line.

If anything, it makes me want to play the route/game even more! It feels like watching a movie, where you're on the edge of your seat because you don't know how it's gonna go vs. you feeling the thrill of how it will unfold when knowing the outcome. It would be a plus if the major spoiler in game has a few hints sprinkled all through out that you dont pay much attention to on a blind playthrough but you will really notice when know the big secret. Not every game is able to do it tho but I still like spoiling myself of the stories for time to time, especially if character deaths are a major possibility in the game.

Sometimes spoilers make me want to play the game/route. My memory is good and bad; sometimes I forget what I saw about the game, and then at some random moment in the game I remember, hahaha.

Most of the time I'll only play the game when I forget what I saw, unless I'm really eager to play. ⚞^. .^⚟

Spoilers don't affect me as much but it is nice to understand how a certain character at the moment develops to become somethign I'm aware of. Only thing i hate is game spoilers. i really cant stand it.

I try not to read spoilers, but sometimes it happens. I rarely play bad endings coz afraid my opinion of my favorite Li's might change. Good ex Piofiore Dante.

I dislike being spoiled, whether it's part of the plot, the ending, or walkthroughs, so I don't look at the official CGs, voice actor lists, other people's reviews, or unboxing videos.

I find a sense of accomplishment and enjoyment in trying things out myself, and I can accept any ending, good or bad, because I accomplished it on my own.

I don't want preconceived notions to directly affect my gaming experience.

Other people's opinions may not be the same, unless the script is truly terrible.

I'll only look at other people's reviews after I've finished the game.

I don't think any spoiler has actually changed my opinion about a route/character, but they always make me wonder how I'd react to a reveal if I were to experience it myself. I might change the recommended route order and play the spoiled character first just to get things over with and (hopefully) continue with the rest without spoilers. It happened to me with Over Requiemz recently, so now I just try to stay away from twitter whenever a game I'm interested in comes out.
