I've recently discovered that there is a working Gameboy Colour emulator you can use on your 3DS.

Now being an avid retro gamer, this made me very excited to hear, but so far it seems I need to buy a R4 3DS card to load the software onto.

Is there anyone here who can confirm this? Or is it possible to copy the emulator onto your normal 3DS SD card to use?

Thanks in advance!

You don't need this emulator, because it already install on Virtual Console on 3DS, Wii and Wii U. Buy Game Boy Color games on e-Shop.

Hi,

To run DS homebrew on the 3DS, you need a DS flashcard which works on a 3DS. Currently the best options are the R4i Gold 3DS, and the Supercard DSTWO. Do your research before buying, because there are a billion R4 clones, most of which won't work on the 3DS.

Unfortunately, if you're using a 3DS, Nintendo can block the card with updates. This hasn't happened for awhile, but it could force you to buy a new one if it does happen.

It's less of a hassle to buy the games if they're offered on the virtual console - but the drawbacks of the VC are a limited selection, and very few configuration options. Your decision.

The GBC I own aren't available on the Virtual Console, that's why I wanted to try this.

Thanks for the feedback all.
