Full romance overdrive or slow burn?

I prefer slow burn romances, I like seeing how the characters develop their relationship and get to know each other better, even if it takes long. Though I really hate when they get together right at the end of the game.. I wish there were more games where the characters get together before the end and we see at least some their cute moments while they're in the relationship. Sadly I have only found a few, if anyone has recommendations I'll be happy to hear

slow burn hehe i'm a huuuge slow burn enjoyer! :3 i enjoy seeing all the process even if it takes a loooot of time and 'problems' haha

I like both!
If I just want to have fun casually, I prefer stories where the characters already have good chemistry from the start.
Slow burns are difficult because they really test the writer's skill.

I think I like the Slow Burn style because it allows me to spend time observing the characters' relationships, letting them develop gradually.

I feel it's uncommon for otome considering game length and pacing, but I am a slow burn truther. There's just something so great about the delayed gratification and yearning, small touches, etc. SO GOOD..

I like it balanced. I enjoy seeing the relationship develop naturally rather than rushing into it or waiting too long.

I love slow burn! I want to see that the dynamic between the LI and MC works first before they get to the romance. Maybe because I really like fleshed out characters so I still want to see interactions even when it's still in platonic/friendship stage. I dislike when the romance feels so sudden and out of nowhere like at least please make it believable :(

I'm team slow burn always. When romance happens too fast, it doesn't feel believable to me, and I don't like it

I feel like my answer would depend on what other genres the otome game is. Maybe I'd prefer slow burn in a more serious setting and dive into romance early on in slice of life scenarios. The pacing of the romance should just try to make sense considering the story its taking place in.

i like slow burn. I prefer the tension and build-up over instant romance.

Slow burn! :boys2_yummy:
1) The emotional payoff is so much better.
2) The writer can't hide the sloppily-assembled plot behind the veneer of romance - it's obvious from the start.
3) I want to warm up to the characters and see how their relationship makes sense - being thrown in the middle of love affairs, expecting me to cheer on somebody I know little about leaves me cold.

I personally prefer stories that develop slowly. Even if it might seem a little plain or boring at first, if you stay patient and keep playing, you can really feel the emotions gradually build up step by step along with the story. I think when things happen too suddenly, it feels a bit too abrupt, like there's no time to prepare yourself emotionally. Most games also require a lot of focus when reading, at least for me (◍•ᴗ•◍)

I honestly enjoy both! Whether it's full romance overdrive or a slow burn, I'm happy as long as the emotional development feels natural. But I really dislike it when the game focuses only on world-building the whole time, and then the MC and character suddenly rush into love right before the ending.. It's so hard to immerse myself in that haha.

I definitely prefer slow burn! I love watching the relationship develop gradually. Rather than overly sweet romance, I care more about how they fall in love — the fact that they've been through so much together before getting there makes the later romance so much more satisfying. When it happens too quickly, it just doesn't hit the same for me. Honestly though, it feels like this type of slow burn otome game is getting rarer and rarer these days

It depends on how it's presented. I like both, if it's well written!

My favorite would be a slow-burn, but not so slow that the characters only get together at the end of the game. Seeing the characters' relationship progress is so sweet.

But a full romance from the beginning is also very good, as long as it doesn't push too hard.

I was going to say slow burn, but after reading other's responses, I'm leaning to both! bc i can see how both can be good

I'm in the lane of it depends on the character or trope/storyline.

I love a friends-to-lovers slowburn to get to see all the cute moments that blur the line and will-they-won't-they (that doesn't drag on for ages though!!). (♡´౪♡)

But, I'm also a sucker for mean dog falls in love at first sight and now it's them against the world scenario. All the affection to someone who never had any, yes, please!! ( ˘ ³˘(◡‿◡˶)

I just don't enjoy slow-burn that doesn't go anywherre. I NEED development, I NEED affections.
On the otherhand, romance that seems to come out of nowhere and it's just WHAM, here it is, no buildup or anything, doesn't vibe with me as well. ರ╭╮ರ

We want to see the falling in love!!! That's some of the best parts of any otome game. ♡(◕ᗜ◕✿)

If the MC and guy's relationship is written successfully I think slow-burn can be really rewarding, especially so if there's a really good payoff at the end. Though I prefer if the slow burn doesn't go on too long because it leaves so little time to actually see them together. I do really dislike games where it's a slow burn and when they get together the game ends.

I prefer for there to be growing feelings fairly early that they don't take too long to get together, but I don't want the fact they're together to be the end, I want their feelings and trust to grow even more over time. I don't want miscommunication and misunderstandings to drive them apart.

Full romance or slow burn doesn't really matter but it should describe how they attract each other and how strong their connection is. If it's just like the girl is pretty or her personality is great or they fall in love because they spend a long time together, it's so normal and boring no matter the relationship develops fast or slow.
