First Run in Otome Games: With or Without a Walkthrough?

I don't use a guide for the first playthrough usually unless it starts to make me incredibly anxious. Which is weird, because that's usually my favorite type of genre. But sometimes I just need that little bit of structure to make me feel.. secure? I dunno, I feel like it sounds so weird :alice_fall:

I just go with the flow on the first run, and then a walkthrough when I try to get all the endings ^^

Rarely, I jump straight into a walkthrough from the first scene, following it closely to grab every key choice, flag, affection point, CG, ending requirement, and hidden detail. If a route truly captivates me, I'll replay it later completely blind for that pure, exhilarating first-time feel.
It's unconventional, but it lets me secure a perfect 100% run upfront while saving the magic of a blind playthrough for the stories that truly resonate.

I'm the type who avoids guides until I'm completely stuck.

Once I look at a guide, I feel like the wording of the choices gives away what happens next, and it just takes the fun out of it.

I only turn to guide sites when I can't progress no matter how many times I try.

Without!..up until a get the worst ending or a abrupt ending for the second time and then i turn to OT for a walkthrough...

Depends on the game, but I'm less likely to use walkthrough in otome than other VN genres.
Usually I prefer playing the first route blind and then looking up a guide for the bad endings before starting a second route. I always follow recommended route order as well.

I use always a walkthrough. Often i just dont want to play the bad ends or neutral ends if the story doesnt excite me much :D

In the past, I mostly used a walkthrough because I didn't have enough time and I got anxious when I didn't get the right ending.
But lately, I try to do the first run without a walkthrough.

it usually depends on the game. If i really like it, i go in blind for the first run and when i finish i use a walkthrough to get every ending. If its a game that doesnt interest me that much I don't use a walkthrough and i try to get every ending without one.

I'm a walkthrough only person >.<
It makes me enjoy picking if I want to do good ends or bad ends for a character first :)

No, because it's interesting what I'll end up with. Like how to get into a game, but not knowing which one, ahha

I used to go in blind every otome until I got all the good ends I could then I would consult a walkthrough. But after I got a really bad ending in olympia soiree... I use walkthrough first thing everytime now!!

I'm always 100% no walkthrough for the first run. It makes it much more fun to get immersed into the story as I love to self insert. If I'm trying to get a specific route I can't figure out on my own somehow, then I might watch a walkthrough to at least get a start to be able to finish it.

I always do the walkthrough or suggested route order because most of the time I only play the game like twice before getting bored.

First ending reading without a walkthrough, i used walkthroughs for other routes and endings, so it's more interesting
This is what I do as well, feel like it is most efficient while still preserving the integrity of the experience.

I used to play without a walkthrough but after seeing the MC and/or LI in some games die/suffer over and over, I'm pretty much too anxious to play without one anymore. The exception is if it's easy enough to get all the endings without one or there simply isn't one available.

I usually check other players' reports on social media first to make sure there aren't any major issues before trying to play blindly on my first playthrough. After that, I consult guides to collect endings and explore other characters' routes. I always feel that the first playthrough is the best part of the game.

Depends on how long the game is. And if there's more than one LI/ending I want to get.

If it's short or if there's only one LI i'm interested in then I don't mind playing without any hints.

No, I usually always choose to play without a guide when I first play to enjoy the game fully and especially because I'm the type of player who whoever's route I get I'll play it right away lol, I only use a guide if I want to finish the game 100 percent and I don't know where I'm lacking anymore 😂

When I first got into Otome games, I remember that there were no guides available at the time, and I had to rawdog it on my own 😭. One time, I finished a route and had gotten the bad end, and it literally kept me up for the rest of the night lol. Since guides are more available now, I use them to help me with challenging games where I have to solve puzzles (or the bad end is really atrocious and I want to avoid it), but on the first playthrough, I prefer going in blind. Also, my first Otome games were the ones you can get on the App Store, so I didn't have a save feature, which made it even more upsetting when I got a bad end and had to restart!

When I first started playing I would use a guide cuz I was terrified of getting a bad ending but now I usually just kinda wing it during my first playthrough since it's kinda fun to see what I get. More than not it's usually a neutral or normal ending. After that I'll usually use a guide to get everything else.

I didn't use walkthroughs in the past, but then I played Yang's route in Piofiore, and I just kep on dying... So now I do lol
