First otome game?

It's funny that I remember my first visual novel (Saya no Uta), but I'm not sure about my first otome game. I think it was Starry Sky in Spring

My first game was Our life, I feel it was a good game for the first time, I had already played games about choice, but they never got into the romantic side, after playing Our life, no game I played compares to that first feeling of playing it for the first time!

I think i played a few before, but I don't remember which ones they were; I'd say the first one was Amnesia i remember watching a playthrough on youtube and wanting to play it.

My start was wild... back then, I didn't know there were R18 otome games, so I ended up reading Ijiwaru while I was still a minor. I never finished it, but my taste in otome games has definitely always leaned toward the softer side (not involving explicit R18 content lol)

It's been so long I actually don't remember what my first one was. I feel like it might have been The Second Reproduction. Either that or Sangoku Rensenki. I vaguely remember struggling through playing a couple of routes using AGTH or ITH with hook codes, Translation Aggregator, and Atlas while not actually understanding Japanese lol. I don't even remember what drove me to want to play it so badly in the first place. 😂

If it's not one of those, then it could have been any of a handful of original English language indie otome games floating around at the time online, since there were basically no officially translated otome games back then. How nostalgic to think about...

Mystic Messenger was my gateway drug lmao! Back in 2016, my entire feed was screaming about 3 AM chatrooms and answering fake phone calls from anime boys. Setting literal alarms in the middle of the night completely ruined my sleep schedule, but that rollercoaster of emotions dragged me headfirst down the otome rabbit hole—and I've never managed to escape since!

The Queen's Number, back in 2020 or so?. I never got to do well in the routes because i didn't know that guides existed, and it was all pay-to-play. Though, i got into otomes thanks to watching playthroughs of My Candy Love back in 2018.
 
i think it was mystic messenger for me as well. i was truly built differently at the time i discovered it because i would have religiously woken up at 2-3-4 am even against any sensible judgement wheeze
it's a very distant memory so i'm not sure if i maxed everything that was available there during the time, but i had fun and i'm thankful to the game
but i'm sure i wouldn't go back to it because i wouldn't be able to pull off the same stunts

to commemorate, i would like to share a comic i came across during my time in the fandom, it's so hilarious and iconic

Forbidden Love, by Accela,inc. There was even a romance with mc's stepbrother. It was pretty bad, honestly, but the 11 year old me didn't think so and was so invested 😂

I don't actually remember what my first otome game was. At a guess, I'd say Pacthesis' flash dating sims on DeviantArt, if you'd consider that otome. If not, then RE: Alistair++ by sakevisual.

I remember that one. I think I had a love/hate relationship with it. I "enjoyed" it to a degree just because there were not many English otome games out (assuming you mean the mobile version). It was like a train wreck you couldn't look away from. iirc All the men were questionable and the MC was a pushover.
 
In my memory, they should be mobile games. I'm not too sure whether they count as standard otome games , they're Touken Ranbu and YYume Oukoku to Nemureru 100-nin no Ouji-sama. As for PC, it's Princess Maker 4, a very old-school game.

Gotta be this one flash otome game that I don't remember the name of anymore that I played back in middle school, if that even counts. If not then it's Mystic Messenger.

My first was Utapri! I found it because I loved the anime songs first, then realized it was an otome game. Tokiya and Ren had me in a chokehold since 2011.

you just reminded me, i played something like that too at the exact same time
it was a series of fun games made for free by an artist called pacthesis i think? i remember finding them on DeviantArt =v=
her games had a fun concept i enjoyed and that was using codes or finding secrets to get rich and super powers
