Do you prefer younger Lls, older LIs, or characters around the MC's age?

Certainly, a wide age range allows you to experiment with different types of romance. But do you prefer the focus to stay on a certain age group? Sometimes, when the cast is too diverse, putting a younger LI next to an older LI doesn't make them feel like they're competing just for the audience, lol.
I agree that the wide age range creates opportunities to test different romance dynamics. I prefer older and same-age LIs (but that could also be because the games I play don't have many younger LIs ).

Personally, I tend to prefer younger but dominant LIs. I really like when they have that confident, assertive personality despite being younger. Same-age LIs are totally fine too, especially when their dynamic with the MC feels natural and balanced. I'm also not against older LIs, but I prefer them when they don't give off a creepy or overly controlling vibe. For me, the character's personality and the chemistry with the MC matter more than the actual age gap.

this is purely my reference but i like younger LI more. come to think about it i think i only like cute boys lol. i usually dont play the older li one (but it depends on the character actually), and im fine with li who's around mc's age :3 tbf i want them to be cute thats all T_T

I dont really love huge age gaps (in either direction) so I prefer LIs to be close in age to the MC.

I know the usual approach is to specify one's preferences, but I'll start with a point that really matters to me: everything needs to stay within legal boundaries.
Some games tend to push the limits of that concept a bit too far for my liking. ^^'
As for preferences, having characters of similar ages often helps avoid situations involving undue influence or control, so I'd lean towards that option.
Otherwise, an age gap doesn't bother me, provided the writing is good enough to make up for it.

I don't really pay much attention to their age, to be honest. 😅 I'm much more interested in their personality and the dynamic they have with the MC. But if I had to choose, I think I generally prefer LIs who are around the MC's age or older!

As much as I like to say it depends on personality i definitely strongly prefer LIs who are a similar age to the MC

I'm more drawn to a character's personality and charm than their age, but if I had to choose, I prefer LIs who are around the same age as the MC. I really like that kind of relationship where they can feel like both close friends and lovers.

Really depends on the character. I do like my love interests more mature which can come from being older typically, but it's more of a personality thing for me than age.

I've always enjoyed older LIs!

One of my fave tropes has always been teacher-student romance. My fave older teacher LIs are Hijikata from Hakuoki SSL, Himuro from Tokimeki Memorial Girl's Side & Nami from Re: Birthday Song.

I think I started really enjoying this trope when I read a shoujo manga with a teacher romance (Hirunaka no Ryuusei/Daytime Shooting Star), which I really loved.

I'd probably say someone around the same age as me. It feels like I could be with them without having to worry about anything.

I tend to like LIs who are around the MC's age! I'd say it's because they usually have a much closer dynamic where they can freely tease and goof around without having to mind any sort of age gap that may cause insecurities for either of them

Me personally? I like em older 😏

But I also have a tendency to separate myself as the player from the MC! I like matchmaking characters and romance in general so I check to see if a LI is best suited for the heroine and vice versa 🤔 (He's gotta get my blessing first before he even thinks about courting my daughter 😭 lol)

I tend to prefer characters who are around my age or younger. I generally like it when there isn't much of an age gap between the characters.
Whether they're older or younger, if the age difference is too large, I start to see the relationship as more of a guardian-and-dependent dynamic than a romantic one.
That said, if the story is really good, age often becomes much less important to me. In those cases, I'm usually more drawn to things like the character's personality, appearance, and other qualities regardless of their age.

I haven't really given it much thought; I just enjoy the moment. That said, if the person is significantly younger, I do worry a bit about what others might think...
Then again, since it's all happening within a game, I suppose it's not something to get too hung up on.

hehehe. I like both! I love a good age gap because it's like a third dimension to the pairing (if done right). Plus I love seeing cute visual distinctions like the younger one being shorter or having bigger eyes, or the older one being taller and having... FACIAAAAAAAAL HAIRRRRRRRRRR AAAAA, and cute little crow lines and stuff. I find myself constantly wanting to date the older non-LI's.... (cove's dad cough cough JUST ONE CHANCE PLEAAAAAAASE.) But it does get weird for me if they introduce a familial aspect :/ (BL example but Monomi from Togainu no Chi, comparing the MC to being like their son and then in the same scene getting down and dirty with each other)(ughhh why oh whyyyy)
I also don't like being called onee-chan either because I seriously will wanna treat them like a brother. Brother's and romance don't mix with me. That's why Shin and Toma never sat right with me. Maybe now I'm older I'll like... Warm up to them? But if I guy I thought I was "just bros" with starts saying they like me... All I'll be feeling is betrayed.
:alice_inlove:but yeah I like both as long as it's just an age gap kinda thing and not some sorta weird family plot.
