Do you prefer to keep the default MC's voiced name or change it to your own?

I like to keep the default name since I suck at naming xDddd I also self-insert, but I don't really have a set nickname, and I tend to change it a lot, sooo a default name makes for less headache =))))))))

And if the default name is voiced, it makes even more sense for me to keep it! When a scene gets intense and the LI heartbreakingly screams out her name (like in Cupid Parasite), having that line muted just because I changed the name feels like a total robbery.

I like to keep the MC's original name because the characters in the game will say it, but if they were like Tokimeki Memorial where they pronounce the name no matter what you write, I'd probably choose different name but never my own, because I can't self-insert.

Sometimes I really hate the MCs name and will change it no matter what, like for example in Neon Clash and Olympia Soiree.

I always like to keep the names default cuz i nvr like self- insert on MC chara, and by playing with mcs default name i could also hear Li's voice of calling MCs name while playing.

If the characters actually say the MC's name, I keep the default name. If they don't, then I change it. I do get more immersed when I use my own name, but I enjoy hearing the characters say the MC's name even more.

I'm 100% a self-inserter, but I will keep a voiced name because it's actually easier to immerse myself that way by thinking of the name as mine. Whenever I play any type of game, I refer to the MCs as me while talking about the game to my friends, and that's just normal for me even if it's a game where you cannot rename them. However, with otome, that's where my using the default name ends because I don't want to see it outside of playing.

Of course I'd love for more games to have the name-calling system that TMGS has, but even then, if you don't have a Japanese name to use, I suppose you're still out of luck (´･ω･`)

I usually use default names like a lot of people here, most especially if LIs will voice default names.

A few years ago when I was at my most active in playing visual novels and otoges, I'd always use an alias in games if I didn't like the default name. But after sometime, this alias slowly became my online name, soooo it got a little awkward using it in otoge in particular(I don't really do self-insert especially nowadays when blank slate MCs are already becoming rare). I should probably cook up new names now that I've thought of playing otoges again. Haha.

If the default name isn't available, like in Amnesia, I'm like, "Okay, the nickname I came up with in fifth grade, it's your time!" or just leave it as Heroine (I have no imagination at all )

Ooo I usually never change the names.. the only case I've done so (because I was forced to LMFAO) was in amnesia and while I did feel it allowed me to self insert more, I didn't like it for certain routes.. Having an MC with a different name and/or personality makes it easier for me to enjoy certain characters that I wouldn't enjoy romantically for myself >.<

I always use the heroine's default name because I don't really self-insert. For me, the heroine is her own character, not a stand-in for the player. I enjoy watching her story unfold and seeing her relationships develop with the love interests.

And honestly, hearing awkward pauses instead of the heroine's name bothers me more than it should. I really appreciate games that fully voice the heroine's name.

I prefer to keep the default name, because the default name comes with voice acting, which is really interesting. Also, different romanceable characters call the MC in different ways—it's really cute.
