I prefer mischievous characters because I feel it makes the story more entertaining. I like them to be playful, pranksters, and spontaneous. But I also like that behind that personality, they are intelligent, attentive, and know how to be serious when the situation requires it; I think it's a good contrast. 🎀

Both? Both. Both is good.
But honestly, I really like when the naughty character ends up being secretly innocent.

It depends on the character, but I do like the gap moe of a secretly pretending character lol

I'm very fond of mean/naughty characters who are secretly pure and innocent, and are just putting on an act! But the ones who act innocent and are actually scheming or mischievous are nice too, I enjoy haraguro types ;b

yes, yes, yes~! \ \ \٩(๑˃̵ᴗ˂̵)و/ / /
ugh, it's so good. i love schemers of all sorts. it's why when it comes to yandere types i enjoy them so much; the manipulation, the staging, the planning. sigh..it's the buttery steak of my dreams. ( ꈍДꈍ )

but the flipside of pushing an outwardly naughty type into blushing themselves? chef's kiss. (☆ω☆*)
especially if it's a bravado situation or to prove a point, so cute.

"Naughty but secretly innocent" — but ultimately, it still comes down to whether that character's personal route is interesting enough.
Actually, I'm quite fond of the type who's wild and carefree on the outside, but pure at heart.

I can accept all these character personalities, it depends on how the game shapes the characters. I think it's enough for the character personalities to match the game plot. As long as the game plot is good and not so boring, I can accept different character personalities!

Personally, I love characters who seem totally innocent but are secretly naughty. It just makes them way cuter to me (#^.^#)

it's why I seem to have grown more fond of interactive fiction than otome more recently and lack the spark to start new otome games.
Same! Omg, I think it's been years since I played an otome game💀, I think the last time I played them was when Voltage Inc games were their own separate apps on Google Play Store 😂💔

The IF game scene really does have a lot of diversity in character archetypes, and there's usually much more exploration of those characters and their dialogue. It's also really fun to see how certain characters respond to a sudden change in the MC's personality.

This is the ultimate debate! It honestly depends entirely on my mood, but if I absolutely have to choose, I lean heavily toward naughty love interests.
The allure of "naughty" characters often lies in watching a smug, flirty LI melt into a devoted, soft, and flustered partner. However, innocent, wholesome characters who blush over simple skinship are equally compelling and charming. Ultimately, the best part of otome games is exploring both types, from pure romances to passionate, mature stories.

I think characters who seem innocent but are actually naughty have more depth, which is why I prefer them. The opposite approach can actually be quite interesting, too, but it really puts the script to the test—it's easy to end up with a strange character who's inconsistent from one moment to the next.
