I find myself gravitating more towards the "naughty" or cheeky type. the jokesters, flirty (with mc), or innuendo laden ones. (˶′◡‵˶)
It's not that it's a sexual character per se, but it's one who enjoys tongue in cheek dialogue or options. It's also the type of personality I seem to develop when it's an option with choices during gameplay.

Don't get me wrong!! I love the sweet innocent types but I adore them more when they show their mischieviousness through an unexpected action or words.
I also feel the same way towards cheeky characters that are a front for their cute innocent side. (´,,•ω•,,)♡

I feel like english or translated otome games never quite toe the line far enough and could push the envelope without falling into eroge territory (not that i mind, but i feel like the romance is secondary to the ero scenes quite often).

it's why I seem to have grown more fond of interactive fiction than otome more recently and lack the spark to start new otome games.

Am I out of the loop and missing characters that fit the bill in otome nowadays?

(this is my first thread so forgive me for errors or confusion ٩( ′ㅂ`)و ̑̑)

For both LIs and MCs I prefer the "naughty"/cheeky kind, they are more fun overall. Innocent characters can be a bit annoying if they are supposed to be adults or older teens.

What do you mean by interactive fiction? I have never met that term before.

text based stories little to no graphics, such as choice of games, hosted games or itch ones! it's a novel with choices like a choose your own adventure. the choices predominently do matter and shape the story or characters more than the typical romance game, if that makes sense? ٩̋(ˊ•͈ ꇴ •͈ˋ)و

most of the ones on itch are works in progress, but there are a few completed but that's where i see the term more often.

Both! and I agree, as long as it's well written and doesn't sound or read awkwardly. But when LIs has those trait but it feels "forced", I don't think I wouldn't enjoy playing through their routes at all.

I love an unexpected change in personality, like especially if they seem mischieveious or rebellious but actually is a softie inside, i reallyyy need recs of LIs like these because they seem so rare </3 I feel like writers tend to do the innocent but secretly naughty trope more instead of the other way round, which is fine too!! I just love characters that defy expectations and go against the initial stereotype they were marketed as

I like both types, but if I really had to choose, I'd probably pick the mischievous/playful type of character ₍₍◞( •௰• )◟₎₎

I'm surprised more ppl didn't choose innocent. I prefer innocent/innocent characters.
I think it's due to how some innocent characters are written. (•᷉ुε ू•᷈,)
There's definitely some dynamic innocent characters, but a large portion are written in the exact same formula and so the character stays stagnant?

Too shy to speak or act or overwhelmingly naive with no development leads to a feeling, for me, that I'm bothering them and that they're not reciprocating affection in the route. (⑉• ༝ •⑉)*:・。

I like innocent characters, but writers often mix innocence with density. It doesn't mean that a pure character shouldn't know where do children come from, or not recognise romantic signals even when they are being hit with it, thay just should act accordingly (e.g. shy). It's especially bad with main characters :(

I also like "gap moe" - when character is not what they seem to be
