Do You Like Otome Games With More Than One MC?

I'm a big fan of games with multiple MC, but there are barely any out there. I think Norn9 is definitely the most memorable one for me.

Yes! (Norn9 fan here) It's really interesting to see different heroines and different dynamics in the same setting. If the MC is annoying, the whole game is ruined for me, but when there are multiple MCs, the situation improves.

It would be so nice if developers made more games like this (I doubt it, though)

I think it's a really cool idea, and more games could use it. It lets you experience the story from different perspectives. And if you don't click with the main character, there's always a chance you'll like one of the other characters better :).
Norn9 really surprised me at first, because the prologue featured a different character, and I was worried it was a different game than the one I wanted. Then came the choice of protagonist, which surprised me even more, because I hadn't read about that feature in the game description at all.

In a otome game, I want to empathize with only one person.

It was fresh and fun at first. However, now I sometimes feel like it would be better if the story just focused on one character. But since people who immerse themselves can enjoy it in various ways, I think having multiple characters might be good too.

Yes, I think they're quite fun! I know this isn't an otome, but the recent amare "Burn the Midnight Oil" has a demo, where each of the two main characters have 3 possible LI each. I find it especially fun when the main characters cross paths. I actually really enjoy wondering how their stories will intersect next.

Multiple MCs are a plus.
It's nice to see how different MCs react to the events in the story.

It's OK but it is possible that you might be in special favor of a single MC and not enjoy as much with other MCs. For example, Norn9, the in one route, other MCs' route would be out of control and may go into a direction that is not good.

Norn 9 is the reason why I really dislike it even as someone who doesn't self-insert.
Personally not a fan of the narrative split between multiple heroines, keeping it focused and narrowed to a contained storyline with one heroine is more enjoyable for me.

The only otome I have played so far with this mechanic is NORN9 and I found it very enjoyable! It's a breath of fresh air honestly and makes the story far more interesting.

I'm down for multiple MCs, but only if they have completely different personalities and the game reacts accordingly =))

Also, having one MC dedicated to one LI like 'Him, the Smile and Bloom' makes it feel like a real romance story, which I love because it feels like fate =))))) Plus, just the thought of the couple I've completed making a cameo in another route gets me so excited!

Another bonus is that with more MCs, there's a better chance I'll find one I can really connect with, and I can just switch back and forth if the current MC starts getting on my nerves =)) Also, I'm a huge fan of scenes where the girls lift each other up or complain about the LIs, so it'd be great if the MCs could do that.

I'm not a big fan of it, because if i try a new game and don't like the mc, i can just drop it, but I'll be forced to go through the whole thing with this type of game...
And I'll end end wishing my favorite mc could get with the other characters that aren't available... so unless you can romance every single li with every mc, i don't like it.

I only play HanaKare and I think I like the way you can see characters bragging/mentioning about their MCs in another LI's route, it feels nice and refreshing to me, but it could be even better if the MCs actually appear and interact outside of their route....

I haven't really played a lot of games with multiple MCs, i think i played only one and i enjoyed it because the story was so good for all of them. so i guess if the story is good and they are all done well i might give it a try

Yes, I've played Norn9 too. Even though it's set in the same world, each heroine's story is different, and their personalities are quite distinct as well, so the experience feels different too . it's pretty interesting

I'm in the camp that prefers stories with just one protagonist.
That's because I like stories where a single character is the object of affection in a reverse harem (even if there are individual routes).
Also, I can only empathize with a single protagonist, so when it's another character, it feels like I'm watching someone else's romance, which leaves me with mixed feelings.

Honestly, I'm not a huge fan of it. When there are multiple MCs, the main character just feels like another face in the crowd, which makes it really hard to actually connect or self-insert. Plus, jumping between different perspectives totally ruins the immersion for me.

Mmmh i'm gonna say this even as a norn9 fan but i'm not really into otome games with many mcs…it sometimes confuses me…and or just don't like the heroine(s) it was pretty okay-ish in hanakare since it was fun to see each mc with different backgrounds and stories !!! But i sometimes didn't enjoy playing some mcs like in norn9……and for ppl who self insert it can be especially hard and or frustrating-

Aside from Norn9 I don't think I've ever played an otome game with more than 1 MC.
In Norn9 though, I loved it! The heroines themselves were such cool characters.
Also, the game has 9 LIs. If there were only 1 heroine, then it just wouldn't work out that well, because not all of the LIs are compatible personality-wise with one heroine.
So splitting up the LIs between 3 heroines, each with different personalities, just makes sense.
Hanakare is still in my backlog... definitely intruiged by the concept of each of the 4 heroines gets 1 LI.

I haven't really thought about this much, but when I think about it, there are games with multiple protagonists, like Norn9. Since I'm not a big fan of Norn9, maybe I don't really like that kind of thing…? But if it's the type of setup where there's a main story and spin-offs, I can accept that—though maybe that's just because I wasn't a big fan of *Norn9*'s plot and setting to begin with…?
