i used to listen to jpop in the past, but not as often as i listened to kpop!! once i discovered otome games, i started adding their osts to my playlists all the time because they're just so good 💚💚💚

and some vas do participate in certain musical projects like soma saito with enstars and hypmic!!! outside of otome, it also made me curious to listen to love live and ggs like morning musume.

i'm not into jrock/vkei like some friends, but i've heard some isolated tracks and they're very good too 🗣️ i've heard some plastic tree tracks because of cxm!!

i also mentioned anime adaptations in the title to specifically talk about the opening of brothers conflict. years have passed and i can't move on from this song...

I love otome games song. Like starry sky's op both their (in) and (after) always mesmerizing, back then I don't know a lot of otome games so it's my first time seeing it.

Otome games isn't the first one to get me listening jpop, it's shounen anime opening and vocaloid instead lol but otome games is the first one to make me study Japanese language. Cause anime and vocaloid song always have subtitles (or dub), while otome games in english are rare.

I'm more of a "as long as it sounds good to me, I like it" type of person when it comes to music.

If I'm continuously consuming media and end up coming across music I like, it's immediately going to my playlist!

My japanese songs playlist previously only consisted of vocaloid songs, now it's full of Anime Opening/Endings and sometimes OST's too (even though most of them don't have lyrics).

A few popular Japanese songs also ended up in there, lol.

Thank you, anime adaptations for introducing me to a whole new world!

I was already an anime fan in general (shounen, josei, literally everything) so I already loved alot of jpop artists before getting into otome! Ive listened to alot of aritsts like Aimer, Yuuri, Lisa, Eve, and amazarashi, which are all pretty mainstream and popular artists in Japan, but otome has introduced to me a lot more underground artists that not many people know about!!

Some of my favourite ballads are Piofores ending song and Nightshade good ending song. They make me feel like a bride running off into the sunset with her groom ❤️‍🩹

I used to listen to the game OP and also their anime adaptation OST, but not really anymore 😅 Back then i like Fujita Maiko a lot, she sang a couple of otome games ost back then, her voice is soo magical. feels like i was in the story too

Actually, i got listened into a lot of Japanese music because of Vocaloid....

I do watch anime, but i've always been more into Vocaloid songs more than anime op or ed. As for otome games, i discovered them after i already been watching anime for a while.

I originally liked J-pop, but if you asked me whether I prefer J-pop or anime songs, I'd honestly have a hard time choosing.
These days, many voice actors are also active as J-pop artists, which makes me really happy.
When I was a student, I was really into Vocaloid. It feels so nostalgic now.

Not really! I was actually really into vkei before I got into otoge lol

Since I grew up with anime (and later got into Vocaloid lol), I just discovered J-rock and vkei by myself. Years ago when I started to play more otoge, it was always a nice surprise recognizing some bands in the game's OP/ED songs, as well as vkei-inspired characters in the games ;b

I grew up listening to a lot of J R&B and some jpop groups like morning musume. I am obsessed with Yanagi Nagi and she's done a lot of otome songs for norn 9 & amnesia.

Yes. I don't specifically seek out songs I haven't heard before, nor do I particularly follow a particular artist's new songs, so most of my J-pop knowledge comes from songs from otome/game/comic anime adaptions.

also part of the team who got into vkei and vocaloid first, then otome games later! it was really cool to see eiko shimamiya in psychedelica of the black butterfly - major higurashi vibes. maybe that's what they were going for? and i agree vns are a great way to get to know new artists... thanks to akaya akashiya akashino i got to know coo:ya, one of my favorite discoveries to this day ^^

also i'm super happy cxm introduced you to plastic tree, i really like their sound!

I'm with people who listened anime openings before (still do) and I listen to otome games soundtracks now. It's nice to see familiar artists in modern and not so modern games.

I've always enjoyed listening to Japanese music. I started with J-rock, then got into J-pop. Later, after playing more otome games, I discovered so many amazing songs from them. I especially love character songs—they're my favorite! As a voice actor fan, I get excited every time a character song is released. I also enjoy listening to OSTs. Some games have such relaxing and beautiful soundtracks. ✨

I grew up listening to J-music via my dad and the rare J-music focused channels and programs we had on TV, and then getting lost on YouTube when I was starting to use the Internet so it's always been something in my rotation (especially J-rock and vkei), but I'll always have a soft spot for Utapri's anime specifically for introducing my tween self to the concept that sometimes voice actors also sing for real and can have music careers on the side too. I can confidently say Utapri's anime is the catalyst to me becoming a Kishow fan LOL

That being said, I love discovering new music, so it's always nice to start something new and find new jams to add to my rotation. I also like starting a game blind and realizing I know the artist or band singing the OP or ED, like "wait... I know them! I've heard them before!!"
