Did growing up change your taste in LIs ?

Sort of! The only way I can think to word it is: my strike zone got wider. I still like what I liked back when I was a kid for the most part, now I just like more things; developed my palate through the years, you could say?

I think that I changed my taste in li not because I got older but because of the many games I have played. In the past, the charismatic savvy and kind of a player type characters were my favourite, and I am a little bit uninterested in those characters who are a little bit mean or distant. But after years of playing almost a hundred otome games, I came to realize that the former betrays quite often. Maybe I got my choice in otome games wrong but I have played loads of games where characters tend to betray heroine and it is almost always them. So, when I realized myself I have been falling for the awkward and distant characters who don't actually betray much compared to the others.
Of course, there is something that doesn't change for me. It is my love for yanderes!!!! I will never dislike my scary pookies.

I've been playing otome games for a long time, but my basic preferences haven't changed. I like characters who are understanding and supportive, childhood friends, and main characters.

However, I've come to accept characters I used to avoid, and I think I'm enjoying otome games even more now.

The characters I liked in the past are still my favorites.💕

Yeah definitely. When I was younger I enjoyed the over flirty/ playboys LI.
Now I can't stand them. I like the more serious and savvy LI. And I guess the ''mysterious'' ones sometimes.

As someone who played otome games for such a long time now, I guess my tastes has gotten wider. Though, I think it has more to do with how storytelling and player demands have changed throughout the times rather than me having wider tastes than before.

I'm not sure if it's just my memory failing me or just biased thinking, but otome games back in the day, especially JP ones, were very formulaic in nature(LIs always have stereotypes and such, which is why they have one-liners in character introductions on what type they are). So when I was a young teenager, it was the era where ore-sama and yandere characters seemed to be really popular. If an LI was actually 'caring' back then, a lot of the times they're secretly possessive/yandere or have some sort of dark side to them, which was honestly uncomfortable for me. So I ended up going for the mysterious guy or the smart one because, well, they felt the 'safest'.

Nowadays, I think there's a lot more games with caring, green-flag LIs without any secret red flags, which I really like. And even if say there's an ore-sama character or some kind of type I don't lean towards to, I find that they've mellowed out and games have significantly better storytelling to show why those LIs became that way. So my tastes have 'widened', but it has more to do with how a lot of games have slowly evolved to cater to a broader community.

I don't think so. Both I and I liked yandere characters from over ten years ago XD
And PC games from over ten years ago had a lot of this kind of plot; it's actually less common in recent years.

Nope! I guess I truly like a specific type, something about the cold-hearted, tsundere LIs always manage to steal my heart! ^^ I just naturally gravitate towards them, and they end up being my favorite characters! Although, I do enjoy a great variety of LIs~

Yes!! the teenager me love shota (basically the cute looking guys) and yandere very much. but i prefer characters more mature, kind, or quiet now. sometimes i still love yandere too.

My tastes haven't changed at all since I was a kid.
First of all, I really love long hair.
And they have to be incredibly handsome.
As long as they have long hair and are handsome, I think I like any kind of personality, lol.

My approach to stories has changed and who my character is within, in general
These days, I'm much more drawn to stories about embracing one's darker side, which, in my experience, is relatively rare in otome. I think that preference was always there, considering I've always loved villains. The protagonist is usually portrayed as a lamb, now I'm far more interested in seeing a clever fox instead. But not the GB type - maybe a little, but it should be more refined.

My preferred LI type hasn't changed, though: it's always an elegant man with aristocratic mannerisms with a wild side

My preferred perspective may change, and my taste in certain themes may shift. I may gradually become indifferent to school life, the entertainment industry, and the workplace, but some memories remain beautiful, and that will never change.

Of course there is change. When I was younger, I liked stable, mature male characters who were older than me, and I found younger male characters too childish. As I got a bit older, in addition to still liking mature male characters, I also started liking young, sunny, handsome younger guys. In short, the older I get, the more I realize that each handsome guy has their own charm and strengths — so I choose to have them all.

My tastes have definitely evolved over time. I used to self insert a lot in the beginning, now I find myself doing that less and less. I didn't particularly have a type when I started out and would stick with the game even if I found the characters absolutely insufferable. Now I don't. I try to give things a chance and if I don't feel like playing further I just won't. I believe the availability of time also is a factor, now as your time with your games decreases as your responsibilities increase, I'd rather spend time with the lis I like / find compatible with the mc rather than trying to make everyone compatible . I don't know if this makes any sense.

Absolutely my tastes have changed i started reading otome when I was in the early teens the types I was interested in reading were the dark and brooding. But now I much prefer comedic relief/light hearted characters (☛´∀`*)☛

I've been playing for a very long time and still gravitate to the same characters as I did back then. Reading shoujo mangas taught me early on that there are only 2 male archetypes allowed to be the love interest and I never had any interest in those. Otome games gave me the option to see the heroine with the guy I personally preferred, it was exciting to read a romance story with a male lead that was unconventional and experience how the writers would tackle such characters. I also just really love cute guys so eh
