Last week ,, one of my most cherish otome games was shuttered .. mr love queens choice .. I've been playing it since it was localized and have spent over 3000 dollars since I downloaded it .. I dont regret it but I feel a little sad .. I made friends / memories with that game that can never be replaced .. does anyone have a game that closed ? does anyone not play mobile games due to the non guarantee it will be active .. the cost of running app games can be high .. but its really sad that some of the best games can be gone in a flash due to this

Yes. The first otome games I played before getting into console otome games - two of the Ikemen games closed:(
I was sad cuz I didn't play all the routes I wanted to, and had quite fond memories of the game.

I currently only play LnDS as a mobile otome game, and spend some money like on monthly passes.
I know maybe one day it may go down like most of the other mobile otome games, but I am enjoying the moment now and reading the stories as much as I can!
Maybe if I whaled, I would feel more nervous about it potentially going down in the future, but since I don't and I also play a lot of console otome games, I've come to terms that termination of its service is a potential downside of all mobile games (that are gatcha base)

For me, I'm already used to the fact that mobile otome games will one day shut down their servers after several games I liked from Shall We Date and some Voltage games ended. The other day I went looking for Wizardess Heart on the Play Store and couldn't find it, nor Blood in Roses. It seems like NTT Soulmare really got rid of all their games just to focus on OM. It's really sad, but the sooner you keep in mind that this could happen someday, the easier it will be to avoid disappointment in the end. I'm currently playing Ikemen Sengoku, Vampire, and Prince on mobile, and even knowing there's a possibility they might be shut down in the future, I'm not going to stop playing them now. It's better to enjoy them while you can, right? :) Now, one thing I think companies could do to preserve the memory of the games and respect the players who played their games for years before they were shut down is to port them to Steam/Switch so we could revisit them.

Liar from voltage inc was my favourite... I absolutely adored that game and loved the concept. unfortunately only the jp version is still running. I tried searching for any games like that but failed 😭

My had to be Shall we date?: Lost Alice, literally most of the 'shall we date?' games that got remove, I'm so heartbroken

Definitely OLD GENIUS.CO games, one day they just decide to rebrand and delete all of their games. They come back with new games and gorgeous artstyle but the story is so bland and soulless I can't help but mourn :(

Yeah, it's one of the reasons I don't play these kinds of games. If I pay for something I want to know I own it. And I also like the stories I read to have a proper ending, otherwise the overall journey ends up feeling kinda aimless to me.

I feel u pain. I remember I had played one of Genius' old games that I really liked back then, I think it was called My Lovely Cat. It was so fun and cute. I hadn't even finished it yet; it was right around the time they started taking games away, and then after a few years they came back with these games nowadays that, as you said, seem soulless. I'd like to know what happened to Genius for the sudden change to make games like this.

In my opinions, the companies should at the very least make their games into an offline console paid version since most of these live services games are just bound to eventually become lost media otherwise

I hardly play any mobile (online-service) otome games because I don't like their bad pathing by requiring grindings and money locks. It's also often not voiced for many events. With all the good console games and romance literautre/manga, making the mobile ones low priorities. I'd rather buy their situation cds if they do it. However, I know mobile titles are more accessible for global audiences, and it has a great impacts to otome players. Temporary service is a huge concern for games in general nowadays.

I can't bring myself to play mobile otome games because I tend to get overly attached, and there are 2 (non-otome) mobile games that ended service and genuinely hurt me for a long time. I would rather pay full price for a console or PC port of the game's story than play a mobile game and always constantly fear a possible EOS and lost media.

Plus I don't really have the time to play mobile games actively anymore, on top of mobile games frequently using predatory gacha mechanics and paywalling and me being very susceptible to FOMO :')

There are a LOT of mobile otome games and gachas right now, it is extremely oversaturated, and you cannot really get attached to any of them because they might disappear from app stores within a week.
I will be forever mourning what they did to Lovestruck, i was obsessed, and now it is coming back with all their games behind a paywall and much less content.
