I couldn't get the .mdx file to mount with WinCDEmu, but it worked with Daemon Tools.

I have since repacked it into into an ISO file. If anybody is interested I can upload it.

I found the update patch 1.06 here ,
but for some reason it keeps telling me it fails to update eventhough I followed the exact steps for the 1.05 ver.

This seems to be for the 冬コミ版. The edition that we were shared above seems to be the アニメイト版.

For me the patch it is failing because there is a checksum mismatch in the first file, suggesting that the patch was not meant for our edition of the game.

On the 1.06 patch page it says 【冬コミ版→1.06アップデートパッチ】

On the other hand, in the patch notes of 1.05 there is the remark

冬コミ版も同じバージョンにアップデートする修正パッチをご用意させて頂きましたので
配信開始の際はダウンロードと適用お願いいたします。
大変お待たせしてすいませんでした。

That reads to me that at the time when 1.05 was released there wasn't a patch for the 冬コミ版 available yet and they released patch 1.06 a few weeks later specifically for that edition.
Whether 1.06 is actually newer than 1.05 or patches more/different things, I am not sure.
Also I couldn't find any info about prior patches before version 1.05, so it could just be that their versioning is strange.

All I found is a comment on a walkthrough that says both アニメイト1.05版 and 冬コミ1.06版 feature 9 CGs, so they are at least equal in that regard.

Yeah I already figured it out after posting my comment but forgot to edit it.
But thank you for confirming it, I thin its like what you said that both patches probably have the same content but the number is just for different versions of the game.
