Best or most heartbreaking ending you've ever gotten in an otome game?

Chojiro's bad ending in nightshade is so sad and honestly the best bad end of all the routes, they end up getting captured by the enemie and forced to duel eachother as a fight to the death, so the two end up killing eachother in a lovers embrace because they'd rather die together, the CG for it is one of the best and heartbreaking I've seen 🥹

I recently played Particles of Reality (VNDB) and its main feature is that there are absolutely no happy endings. (Not like Virche Evermore where you have to play through the bad endings first). There are NO happy endings (there's a plot related reason for this which is why MC always gets screwed over). This game literally made me curl up in a ball, that's how traumatising it was for me. The MC always gets either killed, commits suicide, in a coma, physically and mentally devastated etc...

I consider myself to a bit of a degen with some tolerance for yandere antics but this game made me want to find religion.

Example: One of the tame/good bad endings in the game: MC decides to escape her abusive family by running away and starting a new life with the LI. While in the car with the LI, her family tracks her down and rams into the car. MC ends up in a coma (where she is conscious but trapped in her body) and listens as her LI cries over her body and then announces that they are turning off the life support...Yes that's one of the endings where MC suffers the least.

In conclusion: play this game if you want to end up traumatised 11/10 experience

Most of the ClubSu endings got me right in the feelings. I feel like I also tolerate a lot but whew boy some of those just made me so dang sad. One of them made me cry so hard that I ended up with a terrible headache.

Club Suicide's bad endings are pretty brutal sometimes. Tho personally Shiki's ending had me bawling my eyes out, had to take a break for my own sake afterwards 😭

Lucas's route in Virche Evermore really sticks with you—both his bad endings and even the so-called "good" ones. Honestly, he feels like the only character who never gets a truly happy ending, which makes total sense given who he is and how painfully tragic the game's whole world feels.

Also, the Adonis route in Collar×Malice -Unlimited really stayed with me, and honestly, I think it's even better than the main game's story. It left such a strong impression that even now, more than two years after I finished it, I still remember most of it pretty clearly.

Can I ask if the good endings are any better/less sad than the bad endings? 😭 like I heard on r/otomegames that even the good endings are a bit sad and bitter-sweet, because apparently all the guys follow through with comitting suiciede at the end. I love the concept of Club Suicide since it seems to talk alot about mental health and stuff like that, but I also dont want it to make me fall into another bout of depression 🥴

I mean due to the sensetive topic of the game there is an underlying sadness that's always present while playing, but the good endings definitely feel hopeful as a conclusion of the story.
Still, even while playing through the good ends I still couldn't help but think "Yeah I managed to save the life of this one person but the other guys probably followed through on their end" which is also a bummer as someone who likes all the characters in the game.
If you think you can handle the heaviness of the game I'd recommend giving it a try 😌

I agree with what the other person said, it is really heavy but their good endings are decently good. Although yeah, every time I got someone else's good end I couldn't help but to think about all of the other characters... Mitsuki my beloved.. Also, it was Shiki's route that made me cry myself into a headache so I'm glad I'm not alone on that haha.

If you're worried about it triggering a depressive slump I'd maybe try one route and go into it with the caveat that you're willing to drop it if you feel it's too much. Always put yourself first!
