Do you like MC from vn/otome game to be voiced or unvoiced? Personally i prefer them with voice, it feels like the MC is blend in with the story and the interaction flow with other character inside the game and i do hope that commercial game like VariBari with the voiced MC is happened again in the future. Since usually around 70% voiced MC is only happening in adult otome titles only.

Honestly , I Don't Know . . .
I Am So Used To Silent MCs That It Feels Alien To Me , I Want To Try Though . . . . .
But ! The Voice Actress Has To Be Really Good , A Performance That Screams " Protagonist " ! ! ! ! !

Off Topic , But When I Played Nitro+ Games , I Was Shocked At How Attractive The MC Voice Acting Is : 0 Muramasa Has The Most Sexiest Voice Acting . . . . . . . I Think The VA Voiced In Iroha ( Hana Awase ) , P . S . He Did ! !

In Short , On The Topic Of Voice Acting . . . . . . It's Always Voice Direction That Takes The Prize : 0

I'm fine with either, voiced or unvoiced. I think it all depends on how much a game wants to appeal to self-insert players.

Otome games tell a story from the perspective of a heroine, and since a big part of the target audience is women, they can relate to the protagonist. Giving players the option to change her name supports the part of the audience that prefers to self-insert (although you can still do that without changing the name).

So, I think that adding a voice to the MC limits the opportunity for self-insertion. For example, in Jack Jeanne, the protagonist is voiced for a good reason because she also sings in the story, and it's very focused on the protagonist's experience. Even so, you can keep her default name and mute her voice.

Sorry for my rambling, but I think that's a big reason why some MCs are voiced. It depends on the story and which audience the devs want to appeal to (still, you're free to self-insert or even create an OC, though that seems quite uncommon in the community)

It all comes down to each player's immersion. Recently, I noticed that some MCs have a birthday while others don't lol

Still, I read for R18, do the protagonists have a voice? I wouldn't particularly like to hear them in that sense :P

i personally really enjoy it !! voiced mcs have a charm to them since hearing the exchanges between them and the lis makes it so much more immersive for me !! in general i love it when mcs are characterized well with consistent personalities and cute designs n traits ! norn9's a good example of that since we had three separate girls and i really loved how their voice acting reflected their differences and fit them soo well ^^ i also loved hibari's va in varibari alot she showcased her tsundere charm point very cutely hehe

what's good is that even if theyre well defined they can still somewhat appeal to people who self-insert since the option to turn down mc va and turn off their portrait is always there! which is why i would prefer if the option is always there!

i will say im not a fan of it in R18 titles tho just from my experience i found it uncomfortable to listen to TT

i feel like id just turn her voice off right at the beginning..;w; not that i dislike voiced heroines, theyre just as precious as unvoiced heroines actually!, but i dunno.. im not a huge selfinserter, but for some reason i guess its just a little bewildering to me to have a voiced heroine in a romance game. and otome is a romance genre! maybe im just too used to heroines (and male protagonists in bishoujoge) have no voice at all?

i guess it depends. if an otome game is heavy on the plot/lore/etc and is leaning more into this aspect instead of otome/romance, then i think having a voiced heroine/protagonist is a given. but then again, if an otome game lacks "otome"/romance part, how am i supposed to enjoy it? i boot up otome/romance games for a reason after all..^^; this is why im somewhat wary of distortedcode, because what i gathered from reviews is that theres little to no romance.. and i dont know how to feel about that..;w;

BUT THEN AGAIN, i havent read it yet, but im guessing berubara gakuen is comedic/parodic enough to completely justify the voiced heroine. maybe because the premise and the heroine herself seem fun..^^

im sorry for such a lackluster answer because i still havent reflected on that i guess lmao but ultimately It Depends for me i think. if i feel its appropriate enough for a title to have a voiced heroine, i wont silence her. but i guess its somewhat of a rarity for me.. ultimately.....

for me, it depends of what media I get. I'm fine with either when it's an otome game with either with light/heavy plots or typical visual novel and some of drama CD that MC has voiced bc sometimes I do multitasking so I can listening that when I can't reading the texts bc of multitask with my works. But I prefer MC unvoiced on R18 games/drama CD bc my main focus on this media is for self-insertion

I really like it when the male lead is voiced! I'd actually want the female lead to be voiced as well, but that depends on the voice acting being decent. Good voice acting really enhances the experience for me!

Because there's a chance I'll end up liking a character simply because their voice acting sounds great.

I like both ideas! Sometimes I might feel irked if the VA or voice acting isn't fitting but it's usually not a huge deal for me.

I don't really mind either way!

(I can't really hear anything else over my music playlist blasting in my ears while I play anyway 😭)

I can accept both of these options. If there are good voice acting in the game, it would be convenient for me to immerse myself in the game storyline and experience it firsthand. If there is no dubbing in the game, I can read it as a novel story, which is also great!

I personally prefer having a voiced MC! I find it much easier to follow the dialogue with voice acting than with text alone. Even though machine translation has gotten really good these days, so I don't rely on just the Japanese script, I still tend to keep the original text on screen and glance at it while I'm playing. Japanese kanji can be pretty difficult, so having voiced lines helps me understand everything a lot more easily.

I'm very much a self-insert player, but whether the MC is voiced or not doesn't really affect my immersion. That said, there's always a chance I might not like the performance, or the voice might not match how I imagine the MC. So I think having the option to toggle the MC's voice on or off would be the best of both worlds.

Im a self inserter so I usually go unvoiced but I do like a voiced mc if shes someone I can identify with or see myself in, like Teuta from bustafellows! She doesnt have a child-like voice and shes just an adult trying to make a living, like girl same 🥲

voiced when she has a really different personality than mine. Unvoiced when she is kinda like me. I mean, generally I like the idea of MCs being voiced, cuz we can alwys unmute them when we want to.

I usually listen to the female protagonist's original voice acting first; if I like it, I'll turn it on.
Early otome games mostly didn't have character illustrations or voice acting for the female protagonists; these were added later. Players who prioritize immersion sometimes intentionally turn off the voice acting.
Having sound makes playing the game feel more vivid and enjoyable.

I like both. It depends on the author's intent. I don't like when MC has a voice but then it's cut out, but I mostly hear about such things in gacha-otome.

I think it doesn't really matter whether Mc has voice acting or not. If it doesn't, I'll just do the voices myself; if it does, I'll enjoy the voice actors' performances.

For me, unvoiced MC is hard to distinguish from narrator's lines, so I'd prefer having them voiced and avoid thinking "Ok, so who is speaking right now, is this a thought or is this a dialogue phrase?" Playing Cupid Parasite and having this exact problem right now 😵‍💫 It's a small thing, but if a game contains several dozens hours of reading, I'd like it to be as smooth as possible

I'm fine with either, but I do like it when the the MC is voiced (one reason is probably because of how rare voiced MCs are lol). It helps to bring the MC to life and I think it's nice to have during certain important scenes because you can feel the emotions of the MC and make those scenes much more memorable. I also think it depends on the game. For example, I think games that are more action based and has a MC on the stronger side would benefit from a voiced MC.
