I wish ಥ‿ಥ so I can have someone to gush with. Otome is such a niche genre, finding a fellow enjoyer in the wild (outside of online community) is rare for me.
In where I live, few people know about otome games in my area. BL and fujoshi are much more popular instead. Although otome games became more well-known later because of the popularity of mobile otome games, poor fandom management and community drama caused some ppl not only misunderstand the genre, but also develop negative impressions of it without really learning what it actually is
Unfortunately no. Every time I tell my friends about my interests, particularly about otome games, it always feels like this:
They're trying to understand the appeal for me to make it less awkward, but alas I have already accepted that I'm the goofy goober that likes fictional men. Otomes are still considered a niche in my country but I have met people who do know the genre, mostly online and rarely in real life (I'm still surprised to see 1 or 2 random people around that do know about it but it's mostly because of Love and Deepspace's popularity here).
It's sad, but I heard that even in Japan, the otome gaming fanbase is shrinking... And in my country, honestly, most people don't even know otome games exist.
