Are Otome Games popular in your area?

no, It's not popular in my country...

I'd say not, but since Love and Deepspace becomes more famous recently, people may or may not know more about otome game. But like I said, they may know LADS but not the terms of otome game itself. Because well, recently I saw some toxic people who tend to force other genre (like bl) towards LADS.
Also, most male citizens in my country tends to associate lads (or maybe other otome games but I still said LADS for an example because this game is so famous in my country) to bl game just because there's only handsome guys while ignoring the fact that the protagonist is a female. Truly annoying but eh I can't be bothered to argue with them.

Umm not really , my big brother was the one who got me into the Otomate titles with CollarXMalice (me who only played Tokimeki Memorial on DS when i was young) and he said to reccommend him some that wouldn't be cringe and still enjoyable lol ° i still haven't found the one to recommend tho (^^;) So for your answer no , none of my friends here knows about them *sadly

I've never met anyone who played otome games in real life. It's funny how you find them online quite often, but face-to-face seems like a myth, lol

Somewhere in the middle, but mostly no. Where i live at, not much people know english language good enough to play global released otome games, but there are a lot of unofficial translations. In my country romantic manhwa are much-much-much more popular because it's a lot easier to translate comparing to game software.

Like I only know one person from my country that I can talk to about otome games, even the japanese ones. But she's the only one :cc I tried to make a community for it too, on discord to be fair, but during all the time it was active only trolls came :c I'm pretty sure there are a few people who like otoges here as well , we just have a hard time finding eachother TT

As far as I know, otome games aren't popular in my country. It surely due to the fact that many inhabitants doesn't speak/read english so they won't play or be interested to play otome games (in consequence otome compagny won't be interested to translate a game in my country langage but they are a few games that are translate however they are rare)

In my country, kpop boys dominate the female fandom. Though I'm not saying otome games aren't famous here.
They might not know the term 'otome' but they still play them especially the famous LADS. The hype was so strong their ads appeared on local billboard and women were screaming like they were attending a concert

So to say, people here do play otomes but more discreetly. They don't openly talk about it but there's hint based on; keychain, lockscreen, badge on their bag, etc. And it's only mobile otomes that are well known here (and of course, LADS dominates it)
When it comes to otome switch fans, they're basically nonexistent. I think the main reason is the cost. A nintendo switch cost $1000+ in my country and that's just the console. one game can cost $200+
So realistically, one could enjoy switch otome here if they (or their parents) are loaded or if they resort to piracy *couGhs CoUgHs* (edit: or they can save up too). welcome to capitalism.
