I think we had the same experience but in reverse! What also left a strong impression on me was Hakuoki, except in my case I played the game first (the mobile version on the Play Store and then the PSP version) and haven't watched the anime yet. At the time I was shaken by the endings, especially Okita's and Hijikata's, because they were so bittersweet and tragic. Not that the other boys' endings weren't tragic too, but I think following those two was the hardest given their situation and how the plot develops in a more tragic direction, like in Okita's route where

I felt bad for days. Everything in this game left a strong impression on me and stayed with me, from the story and the characters to the way the game is played. It's even educational since it teaches you historical facts (in my case, I didn't know the Shinsengumi actually existed; I thought this group was part of the game's fantasy. I only found out after watching Rurouni Kenshin and Gintama, after seeing some familiar names appear). I think I'll always remember Hakuoki no matter how much time passes.

Deep impression... I still consider Hashihime of Old Book Town to have had a strong impact on me. I remember the first time I heard about this game, I searched for it on VNDB and saw that it had very good reputation and reviews, so I decided to try it.

At first, I was attracted by the opening and the setting. I believe it was the Taisho Era? I'm not sure, since I played this game quite a long time ago. The story hooked me, though at the beginning I didn't understand much. The dialogues seemed repetitive but at the same time slightly different, with small details changing each time. (Without spoiling anything) I really liked the protagonist Tamamori and Kawase's route.

To be honest, I was a bit bored at first because the game has too few options to interact with. It felt more like a "novel." However, once you get into the story, time passes very quickly. I think you need a lot of concentration and patience to play this game at the beginning, because it starts quite slowly.

Also, Hakuoki... this game is too way realistic for meeee, it is like merging into that world, and i felt bad for these historical characters...
