Since I'm building my private archive of all the Audio works I download (mainly works that have a translation in english) I tend to custom encode all the audio files into a video file that allow me to have the subtitled burned in the video, instead of dealing with the audio and subtitle file separately. This allow me to enjoy the works using almost any kind of device easily.
From today's release I'm planning to share all of mine encoding with the community, to see if those encoded video can help other user (that just like me need to have some english subs) to enjoy better all of this audio works.
For the "audio work connoisseur" the final result is something like what aoharu fetishism and MomoiroMint do with the english releases, without the countdown and other visual effects.
I encode those video by merging the .wav file, the .vtt file and an image taken from the release to use as a background, downscaled to be almost 1080p if needed to better help the compatibility across different devices. To encode it I use a script that I made using ffmpeg, if you want to take a look at the command this is an example:
ffmpeg -loop 1 -i "FILENAME.jpeg" -i "FILENAME.wav" -c:v hevc_nvenc -vf "scale=1920:1080:force_original_aspect_ratio=decrease,pad=1920:1080:-1:-1:color=black,setsar=1,format=yuv420p,subtitles="FILENAME.vtt":force_style='Fontname=Trebuchet MS'" -shortest -acodec copy "FILENAME.mov"
In short it copy the audio track in the video file, trying to maintain the highest audio quality possible, burning in the subtitle in sync with the audio track.
All the releases will be in .mov file format, because is the one that allowed me to copy and not modify the audio from the .wav files. It can be later converted to other file format if needed.
