i did use exe from one of the crk folders! my mistake was being wary of the other one because its name was different haha. anyway it did eventually open, so all is good! by the way, how do i know if the 1.02 patch was successfully applied?

By modified files in VN (it is enough to see the modification time).

Everything works for me, but for some reason voice doesn't play:(

No, i installed the game on Japanese windows XP SP3, running on virtualbox in windows 10

VMware with Windows 10 and the sound should work, or you will have to somehow patch XP (since this operating system has problems with sound in virtual machines).
