What version of Windows were you guys using? Mine worked right off the bat even after putting the update files. No need to rename anything either. Also, a2c's attachment link says that the attachment is invalid.

The game opens properly for me but when I try to start actually playing (starting a new game) the game shows an error message

I have downloaded this from 3 different sources but this problem still persists.

In case anyone was having issues, here's how I fixed mine.
1. Renamed the folder to Dwarfsoft
2. Copied the patch in
3. Copy and pasted the folder into the root of C: drive (C:\Dwarfsoft)

That seemed to do the trick. Apparently it didn't like where I was trying to open it.

For anyone getting an error when trying to launch the game, it's because of the hearts "♥" in the folder name. Just rename it and you'll be good to go.
