The restaurant where Keiichi had been working at closed down, so he ends up staying at his osananajimi Miharu’s place while he looks for a new job. One day, he visits Riverlight, a quaint cafe set in a garden situated on the top of a small building – an oasis in the city. It’s been a while since he had come here, but he doesn’t remember the cafe being this empty and the food this bad. The lone waitress Chizuru explains that the owner (her father) had passed away last month and that she was now in charge of running the cafe alone. A few days later, there’s a sign up saying that the cafe will be closed down soon and he felt that it was a shame that it would happen to such a nice place. Watching Chizuru do her best to keep the cafe running while shedding tears, he decides to help her out with the cooking that day. She thanks him and asks if he would like to work at Riverlight.
