There is a crack but it doesn't seem to work for me (I'm using Windows 8 64 bit edition, if it matters).

FWIW, you are supposed to run the exe, then run the alsign crack, then run the game again.

The error is telling you to put in the original disc.

*edit* The ALsign crack I found didn't work, but this one does:
